It launched in 2017 but it really gathered speed in 2019, TLDR News is a group of You Tube channels which do condensed but comprehensive reports about topics which have risen to recent public importance.

My feelings are mixed about this enterprise. On the one hand it is nice to get the public engaged in civic issues in an educational rather than aggressive way and it is more convenient to watch these mini-lectures rather than multiple longer broadcasts.

On the other hand the very premise of the channel is suspect - the name means "Too Long, Didn't Read", but realistically it normally takes less time to read a page of text about something than to listen to someone else narrating it to you. The small scale of the company and the need for speed in publication also cause problems - the videos are notorious for flubbed lines, animation glitches and occasionally small (but important) factual errors.
