Discussion thread for the C.O.A.S.T. roleplay, please keep it civil!

Forgive me, if my last post is a bit off. I got occupied and it was quite a bit to catch up on, plus having a bit of a creative block

I probably should've brought it up sooner, but I'm thinking that for any information only one character knows, (like the Mediums in particular) rather than send it out in private messages I'll just have it in the regular posts but in spoiler tags. That way everyone can know out-of-character; I'm not particularly concerned about you guys metagaming, though I'd of course prefer you not to. It'd be in such a way that it's clear who is intended to know it, like, "[character name] saw that there was [spoiler]."

How about info that bumps find out but not the humans/non mediums? This is regarding spider who is able to find info on her own. You could mark those with a spoiler tag as well.

On a similar vein, that could also apply to Diego's sense of smell or hearing, which if he's anything like a mundane dog is probably leagues better than the senses of humans. Considering Diego is a chupacabras, he's probably honed towards the smell of blood in particular.

I meant the Herald's Bumps as well where applicable; I thought that would be obvious, sorry.

@sci300768: Although, on that note, you didn't actually specify Spider having any kind of special supernatural senses in your signup, and since she's so strong combat-wise I wouldn't have accepted her also being like a Medium on top of her combat skills; that would be getting into that, "why play any other class" thing, and also invalidating the need for any of the other characters to be there in a way that makes it less fun for the other players. Therefore there's not actually much Spider can sense that normal humans can't. The only big exception would be other Bumps that are incorporeal the same kind of way she is, which she would see clearly. (and be able to interact with) Since there's the big thing about not all Bumps working the same way, and being impossible to fully quantify, there would be Bumps who are incorporeal through a different way, and would be just as incorporeal to Spider as they are to everyone else.

Also, I am a bit confused by part of your post. It starts with saying that Zoya takes the holy symbols, but then later seems to imply that she actually doesn't bother since she already has one. So which is it? And if she did take any, which one(s)?

And on a less important side note on part of your post, a banishment ritual AKA an exorcism would definitely work on Spider. In that hypothetical rejected signup timeline where C.O.A.S.T. treats Spider as a hostile Bump because she occasionally eats people, that's exactly what they would use to get rid of her permanently; the only real difficulty there would be finding the right ritual that would do it.

I mean yea, Spider can't detect ALL bumps, but she's way better at it than normal non median humans. Also she tends to attract those that are of the similar type as herself... And Zoya took 1 of each holy symbol that was not the cross (as she has her own of that one).

Um, I just explained why that wouldn't be the case. Again, you didn't have that in your signup, so I didn't accept it. And besides, you can't have Spider be good at everything relevant to catching Bumps because if the other players can't have their characters meaningfully contribute, they're probably not going to have fun. I will repeat myself: Spider isn't really any better at sensing out Bumps than humans- yes even normal humans- unless it's a Bump specifically like her.

... What Bumps show up in the missions you guys go on is something that is entirely in the control of and decision of me, as the GM. Therefore it's up to me how often a Bump that Spider can more easily sense and interact with shows up.

@Deis The Alcano: Zoya already took the baseball bat, and the knife and axe have also been grabbed. The pistol is still available.

@sci300768: Okay, I didn't realize that this is what you intended to do with Spider's "speed changing" and that's partially on me, but what you're doing with it is ridiculous and completely clashes with the tone of the game. So I'm retroactively denying it.

None of the characters, including Heralds' Bumps, are supposed to be like comic book characters, and especially not like the freaking Flash.

Well, if sci doesn't respond within the next 24 hours, I say everyone else may start posting as if sci's last post didn't happen.

I know I'm a couple weeks late to the ballgame, but if this RP is still running and y'all are okay with accepting in a new member, I'd love to join.

@Greydoom: If you're new to the roleplaying subforum, it's generally not considered the best form to jump into a discussion thread of a game you're not accepted into yet. However in this case I don't really mind much.

Anyway, yes the RP is still officially running, but we're a bit stalled at the moment. I'm waiting for someone besides sci to post, as I'm not sure yet what I'd post without that.

Well it's been over a week and sci still hasn't made any response, so I'm going to now act under the assumption that they have dropped from the game.

So we'll just continue on as if Zoya and Spider were never even there.

@sci300768: ... So I see in your post you are seemingly acting as if Spider's super speed stuff is gone, but that still leaves an important question. Why weren't you responding? You made no post here and I didn't get any PM from you. You never edited your previous post that brought up the issue, and your signup still says she has the speed changing ability.

Alright, after thinking about it for some time, fine, we will continue on as things presently seem to be. As long as my rulings are being followed it is ultimately not the end of the world for sci300768 to not be responding to my questions, though it is certainly not considered good form to blow off your DM; frankly it's a bit disrespectful.

Therefore if it happens again I might not be as forgiving; but for now, I'd rather just keep the game moving.

I've been thinking this over and I can't really keep up with the game, plus I quickly lost my motivation for my character as I'm not really feeling him. So I'm dropping out of this one. Sorry for the inconvenience.

I too am having fun though I ended up having very little time for posting lately due to work. Tomorrow I'll hopefully be able to put some more serious effort into posting.

Everyone expects Spider to just fight the dang bump. Meanwhile spider is actually having a civil conversation with it. None of the humans know this yet LOL.

@sci300768: Why did you describe Zoya landing from being thrown twice in the same post, and then a third time in your next post? It's rather odd.

Spider just does this weird hybrid of yeeting Zoya basically.

Ok, that didn't actually answer my question, but whatever.

Sorry for no post yet; real life is kicking my free time in the teeth. I will hopefully be able to post tomorrow.

@Greydoom: It doesn't really matter at the moment, but as a reminder, the Bump is completely invisible to the naked eye. (except for Spider) The only way Lenny could see it is with one of the high contrast cameras. (And he'd only see the silhouette.)

Anyway, also just wanted to add in general to everyone here, sorry for my lack of posting yet; I've been kind of waiting for Omega-Z to post, and also just had a lot of distractions come up in life recently with visiting relatives and other things to do. I won't be trying to post right now, but I may try to post later tonight.
