We don't seem to have a thread for this classic board game with a million variants, and I felt it would be interesting to have one.

I have recently played classic Monopoly but with the speed die, which adds rules to speed up the street buying phase and force the end game. I think the former part worked out pretty well, but the latter is badly balanced. The rhythm of the game is thrown all askew thanks to adding a third die (which increases the minimum roll to 3), and said dice having two sides which forces a move to another unsold street or to one to which you must pay rent. This means that on one third of all rolls, you have to pay double rent. On top of that, when landing in an expensive street, this means there is a two third chance of having to pay the same player twice.

Add to this that thanks to this die, you are much less likely to land on chance cards, and there is much less money in rotation, so that an expensive hotel can pretty much bankrupt you, let alone when you land on two at once thanks to the extra die. This makes prison the most attractive tile to be in, since it generally means not having to pay anyone rent.

Basically, whoever gets their hands on the most expensive street and gets hotels on all three can insta-bankrupt any player landing on it.

Not the greatest addition. When you use it, I suggest modifying the rule for the Monopoly Man in the second half of the game.

Optimism is a duty.
