RWBY famously developed its own ship-happy fanbase when all we had to go on were the character descriptions.
Suffice it to say, yes, this does happen.
Disney100 Marathon | DreamWorks MarathonYeah fans took the fact that Enid and Wednesday look and seem to have opposite personalities from each other and ran with it. Sometimes that's all you need.
Offcaurse it doesn't helps that their actresses are friends in real life and jokingly flirt with each other on Instagram constantly.
I mean Preemptive Shipping exists for a reason.

Fan-Preferred Couple cleanup threadI'm fine with having gay/lesbian characters. But I notice that whenever you have a female character that isn't conventionally feminine, people always want her to be lesbian. If she is a punk, a goth, a tomboy, or even a chubby nerd, then people will say she has to be gay. Like they're saying, "if she doesn't like barbie dolls or the color pink, then she has to be into girls".
Like, I wouldn't be surprised if Wednesday is depicted as a lesbian in this show. But I don't like the idea that she has to be a lesbian.
I agree. Personally I always headcanoned her as Asexual. But shippers are going to ship and there's nothing that can be done about them.
Fan-Preferred Couple cleanup threadIt's almost like queer people relate to those archetypes and often *are* those archetypes themselves.
But uh, there's a reason Lipstick Lesbian is a trope, it's not a universal sentiment.
I understand that. But, speaking on a more personal note, as a guy it would be nice to see more unconventional women who aren't always gay. Only because not all guys are into conventional women, and might be interested in someone they can relate to more, and have more stuff in common with. Not that I'm saying this show specifically needs that. I'm just giving a different perspective. But again, I am half expecting Wednesday to be lesbian in this show regardless of what potential viewers might think.
Having said all that, I do think Wednesday having a boyfriend could still be subversive if they made it clear that she's the dominant one in the relationship, and didn't portray this as a bad thing, as is so often the case.
As far as Wednesday being asexual, I can see that. It would make sense for her character, and how she often behaves. I imagine a lot of viewers wouldn't stick around for long if they went that route though.
So will any of the other Adams family members be recurring characters?
I know they cast them? But like is it just as a minor cameo thing or will we see them recur.
"That's right mortal. By channeling my divine rage into power, I have forged a new instrument in which to destroy you."The actors who play Morticia, Gomez, and Pugsley are credit to appear in two on IMDB (that is if they are trustworthy). But the others are only credited to appear in one. Which I both understand and am concerned by. On the one hand you want the show to stand on it's own but on the other seems like a waste of great casting.

Fan-Preferred Couple cleanup threadSpeaking of Hands I wonder if Thing will appear?
New theme music also a boxThat's what they did in Addams Family Values.
Didn't he die at the end though?
No Joel most likely lived it was a prank on Wednesday's part.
Seriously if the romance is like with Joel and not forced I will be okay with it, but I don't really want romance in the show. It doesn't really seem like it's needed.
Fan-Preferred Couple cleanup threadHe will, he's shown up all over the promo material. In fact, it appears he'll be staying with Wednesday at the school, making him a series regular.
Disney100 Marathon | DreamWorks MarathonIt kind of helped that Joel was depicted as a normal kid who otherwise accepts and even loves Wednesday's cookiness, with a dash of adulation akin to Gomez's relationship with Morticia. Like, do something like that and it'd be fine.
> He will, he's shown up all over the promo material. In fact, it appears he'll be staying with Wednesday at the school, making him a series regular.
neat,I've not been following this show's promos all that much
New theme music also a boxTo follow up on how crazy it is that Wednesday and Enid have shippers already. They just crossed the 200 fic line 5 days before the show has aired.
Fan-Preferred Couple cleanup threadshippers and fic writers are busy people
New theme music also a boxDefinitely. Not a bad thing either. Just something I didn't expect to see when this show was first announced.
Fan-Preferred Couple cleanup threadI'm looking forward to this, tbh. Liking what I've seen in trailers so far.
As for the shippers thing - shippers are a goddamned blight on any medium or franchise.
I guess I'm a goddamn blight, then.
I'm shipper at heart, but its just weird to see it happen with the Addams Family of all franchises. Before this show was announced shipping was limited to Gomez/Morticia and Joel/Wednesday along with maybe some Wednesday/Lydia from Beetlejuice. But nothing close to the modern form of shipping. Not a bad thing just something I never expected to be introduced to the Addams Family fandom.

Fan-Preferred Couple cleanup threadShippers in any fandom can be perfectly regular, sane people... it's just that the ones who take it to extremes are the ones that pop out more. Heck, I think pretty much everybody has partaken in shipping at some level or another regarding a work, even if it doesn't go as far as fanart and facfiction and is just a passing thought of "huh, I think those two'd work nice together".

Disney100 Marathon | DreamWorks MarathonI've written fanfic, I love looking at shipfic and fanart, it's just nice.
As far as shipping Wednesday with anyone goes, I'm at least seeing some self-awareness from fanartists that the ship might not even work out when the show actually airs, they're just here for the ride. I like that attitude lol.
I do too. It's always nice when shipping is allowed to just be fun instead of a heated, stressful competition.
Disney100 Marathon | DreamWorks Marathon
They just look nice together.
That's all you need to ship lol.
