Character-Specific Pages

On two different ATT threads it was decided that we might need to iron out at what point we need to make a Character-Specific page. Here are what we got suggested so far.

• It has the required amount of bytes on a single character. Like say 40,000-50,000.
• The original page is so big that it would justify a split. If there are no other options.
• The character takes up over a third of the page/maybe half.

What does everyone think?

Since it was my suggestion I will say yes.

Yeah. I think these seem like reasonable rules for when one is needed.

As I will say again though this should be more of a thing where one of them is required and not all because if we did it so all were needed it could be a problem.

That sounds reasonable. What would we need to make this official? I assume a lot more people on board for starters.

Yeah please don't do one unless needed. And yes we will need more opinions before it's official.

Yeah obviously people should also exercise good judgement and only make pages when they feel it is necessary.

I think the biggest goal should be editing Character Specific Pages to have those qualifiers listed. That way people actually have a point of reference for creating new pages.

Like I said it on the other thread. If let's say a page is over 13,000 bytes and over 70,000 of those bytes come from a single character sheet. If you can't find a way to reasonably shorten it. It would be fine to make a page.

Which reminds me. In a lot of issues like these, I believe that clean up should be attempted before a split. If after removing ZCE, Natter, misuse and more the page is still too long, then a split is in order.

Fair enough, I guess I am guilty of not reading some pages through first.

Someone opted to remove one page I made because they thought it was unwarranted. But said character made up over a sixth of their group page's length and had over 6000 words of text on their own.

Do you mean F.A.N.G, when I put it through the Bytes calculator it was not that long.

Oh. Uh..

Weird, I put it through Notepad++ and it read 41000

Each character here has a page that's 20'000 bytes, or about 3500 words, yet they all have individual pages. This could probably be a case where all three are merged back onto a single page.

Yeah. That doesn't really need to be character specific pages. Especially when added together they don't make that much.

Someone just started making individual character pages in the Street Fighter characters section, and, I'm not exactly sure what the point is.

The characters already have individual collapsible Folders, so it's not like it takes a long time to scroll past them or anything.

It just kinda makes the indexes look more cluttered and harder to navigate. And I don't see the benefit.

Is it necessary for every major character in Steven Universe and Undertale to have their own page?

No and that is why we are here. How big is each page and can they reasonably fit where they originally were. Undertale particularly seems weird since as of right now it's one game and what amounts to a demo of another.

Some probably are but I doubt that all of them are.
