Credit to the CW, their recent shows have been better at avoiding this issue. We've come a long way from Smallville taking six seasons for Lana to learn Clark's secret.

Okay maybe I spoke too soon.

Barry Watson, who costars as Naomi’s adopted dad Army Major Greg Mc Duffie, says his character and his wife Jennifer are lying through omission only because they’re trying to keep their daughter safe.

“He’s a little more aware than he’s pretending to be both with the military and with Naomi,” Watson reveals to TV Line. “He knows who Naomi really is but he couldn’t let her know that, and he couldn’t tell the commander when he asked him to join his special investigation team. The great thing about this show is I learn new things every week as we get the scripts. I’m getting to discover more about my character and the other characters. You just never know what they know until you do.”

Naomi is also a 16-year-old girl, and although she shares a close bond with her mom and dad, that could all fall apart once she figures out the two weren’t as forthright as they could’ve been.

“Greg and Jen know a certain amount of things,” the real-life father of three shares. “And they have pure intentions because they love her and care about her so much that they feel like they are her protectors. As things develop, they feel like they will have to come up with more ways to protect her from the world. It’s a necessary evil as parents not to tell your children everything, but this is an especially hard struggle because eventually, Naomi will learn what they know.”

Viewers will have to keep watching to see how Naomi responds and if Greg and Jen will be able to regain her trust. Greg will likely have to stay several steps ahead of his military bosses as well.

“Lying, despite their best intentions, creates a situation where Naomi will get angry with her parents,” Watson observes. “What teenager doesn’t get mad at their parents? But because Greg and Jen are keeping secrets, it does threaten that bond. The show is so grounded in that way. As time goes on and Naomi finds out more and more, she is going to be upset with her parents. I know I would be.”

And for a fun bit of trivia, the dad's actor was on 7th Heaven as the eldest son.

Ya know I'm not a fan of the added military element to Naomi's backstory.

Cause especially airing alongside Superman and Lois its like too much military stuff plus its prolly just to add a lot more drama in Naomi's dad possibly being ordered to deal with her.

[up] Huh nice trivia.

No surprise about Naomi's dad judging from the source material.

The thing about the military in this show and Superman and Lois harks back to the fact that unlike the other Arrowverse shows where the hero is basically a private citizen with independent funding and his own team, Superman and Lois focuses more on the family aspect, so they need the military there to handwave away whoever does stuff to assist Clark. In this series, the military aspect is likely to explain away certain details about the dad that would not make sense otherwise.

I knew that her parents knew more than they said. I just hope the build-up won't last too much longer, I finally wanna see Naomi cut loose with her powers.

Okay I can’t help but find it amusing how the show has to include all six of her friends every time to she has to sneak off.

Like this episode was particularly contrived when it made clear the purple-hair girl doesn’t go to their school yet she just happened to show up helping a professor when on their field trip. And then all 6 of them are in the lab with her with no one providing the lookout she wanted because they all felt the need to be there.

The fight scene with that Bounty Hunter was cool. Otherwise, not that much happened this episode. But I'm glad Naomi is that chill with her parents. We don't need any forced drama.

I also would've preferred her with Anthony, tbh.

Naomi is back after a Olypmic Break and it's a Summer Campy episode. Not too bad, but obviously a bit more calm before a storm.

I was surprised that Dee was described as a former War Criminal though.

Huh so it looks like Naomi's powers are different here.

Naomi in the comics is a pretty general flying brick character. She's really strong and can fly. The most distinctive thing is that she can make her hands glow but I've never seen her fire a rayblast or anything in the books I read.

Here though its a bit...... vague. In the first instance she makes a bunch of leaves and dirt float around her, I think she also pushes a guy with like an invisible wave, then she picks up a concrete pillar so super-strength now, and now she fires energy blasts, and the next episode shows she might have x-ray vision.

Seems like she has multiple powers in the show.

[up] Dang Dee is a Thanegarion after all.

Sooo Zumbado might not be so bad after all. Dr. Bell is an interesting new character. Possible Big Bad?

On another note, I'm glad Anthony and Nathan are starting to get along.

It's fine, a little boring but I suppose that's to be expected since they don't have a lot of the source material to crib from.

Yeah this was a pretty good episode, really moved the plot along nicely.

And the adaptation changes are pretty funny, Brutus has now ascended to the big bad when originally in the comics he is merely a lieutenant of Zumbago who is actually the primary architect for their worlds destruction.

This one was a nice episode too. Aside from the Alien stuff, I really liked Anthony and Nathan becoming friends with Lourdes.

Just watched last night's episode. The sort of format's been used before, but I thought it worked well, and was both fun and suspenseful and moved the overall story arc forward. And that twist at the end... I did not see that coming.

Poor Lourdes. Also, I guess it makes sense for Naomi not to instantly go back to normal, after a reveal like that. At least she now has one more protector.

Cancelado:

[T]he for-sale CW pulled the plug Thursday. With that, we hear that the ARRAY Filmworks and Warner Bros TV produced show is talking to other outlets about continuing Naomi’s tale on streaming or higher up the dial.

The move by the Mark Pedowitz-run CW was not totally unexpected.

While garnering a lot of critical acclaim, including from Deadline, Naomi was in a constant battle to find an audience, especially online. The show suffered several preemptions since its January 11 debut, including for the Beijing Olympics and for consecutive weeks in early March. It also has to be noted, because this is Hollywood, the proposed sale of the CW had to play a role in the lack of a Naomi renewal.

That blows for the show, even though I dropped it early. I hope they can get HBO Max to take up for season two or talk with Warner Bros Discovery about putting it on Cartoon Network or something (since apparently they'll be airing the Degrassi reboot too).

A shame. Despite the low budget, this show was enjoyable and I was looking forward to see how they'd handle things after that season finale.
