I wonder whether Appendage Assimilation counts when the limb in question is inorganic in nature (such as a robotic arm). I ask this because it was cited as a reason against an image I suggested for Dismemberment Is Cheap from AKIRA involving Tetsuo making himself a robotic arm.

Dismemberment Is Cheap targets muggle characters who don't seem to be affected by their sudden loss of a limb. The suggested image makes Akira look like he has special powers which places him outside of the trope's scope and into Healing Factor territory (for characters who are used to such things). It's not a good illustration of what Dismemberment Is Cheap entails regardless of whether his arm replacement is robotic or organic.

Admittedly, Tetsuo does have special powers, which enabled him to psychically form said robotic arm. I would consider it Dismemberment Is Cheap, at the very least subverted as it ends up paying off in a strange way.

I wouldn't consider something like that Appendage Assimilation, however, as he formed it instead of grafting an intact limb onto himself.
