I'm in agreement as well, in case my last post didn't make it obvious.
So anyway, similar to my last post with the Genshin Impact bosses and their statuses in-game, I have an idea to create a sandbox page on that particular premise where I list every boss from a game and their statuses, which includes mandatory, optional, secret, Superboss and Route Boss. How does that sound to everyone?
Hmm... Where would this page, once done, fit? On an analysis page?
My Games & Writing...I feel that's impractical. We can't fit every boss from every game in one page.
I think that in the main page of the games we should be like:
- Optional Boss: other than [insert optional bosses here if any] there are the following...
Or maybe like
SpaceBattles.com fanworks (unnoficial) index in my Sandbox. It doesn't necessarily have to cover all games—just those that people want to add such analysis for.
My Games & WritingWent ahead and brought Route Boss to TLP.

That's good to read! I'll likely take a closer look tomorrow, but at a glance it looks like a solid start at the least. ^_^
My Games & WritingRoute Boss has launched.
Excellent! It's good to see it up! ^_^
My Games & WritingSo is someone gonna start the TRS for Bonus Boss to get it renamed to Superboss, or do we need enough wicks? I have a few to contribute to the sandbox.
Also, does a Route Boss have to be mandatory for said Route? OMORI, for example, has several bosses exclusive to the Omori route, but just about all of them are hidden and optional bosses (ie, Secret Bosses). And the Sunny route has two encounters (the wasp nest and Recyclepath) who are also exclusive but optional.

One of these days, all of you will accept me as your supreme overlord.Bonus Boss could use some Launch Displacement. The name Bonus Boss can be given to an out-of-the-way optional boss regardless of difficulty (and is described as such in the Optional Boss disambig page already), while Superboss would be for Bonus Bosses that are designed to be more difficult than all the mandatory bosses (our old definition of Bonus Boss).

Also, about Iconoclasts, this post claims the two optional bosses were not particularly difficult. But when I played the game, even on Hard Mode, I was able to take out almost all the bosses in just a few tries- EXCEPT those two (and the Pre-Final Boss), so I am pretty sure they DO count as Superbosses, at least on Hard.
And another question about a Route Boss: one poster gave this example:
What if you can defeat the giant eel, then go back and fight the lava monster? Do they still count as route bosses?
Or, for another example, in Jimmy and the Pulsating Mass, the exit in one mandatory area is being blockaded by enemies; you have to either dispel the blockade yourself, fighting six waves of enemies at once, or go through a dungeon and fight a boss at the end, then make him call off the blockade. Doing either will allow you to exit the area and move on. However, there is nothing stopping you from beating the enemy rush, then going back and doing the dungeon (which is what I did), whereas if you beat the boss, he calls off the blockade and the enemy rush will disappear. Does this count as a Route Boss?

One of these days, all of you will accept me as your supreme overlord.Yes, Final Boss and Route Boss aren't mutually exclusive.
See Trials of Mana, in which the choice of the first playable character determines the final boss (and some of the story-related bosses) and The Very Definitely Final Dungeon.

Kirby is awesome.I'm honestly not sure of what the process here is.
(Have we yet done a wick-check, come to that?)
I would say that it needn't be mandatory—just restricted to that route.
After all, a single encounter or character may contain multiple tropes. In this case, the boss in question would presumably be both a Route Boss and a Secret Boss.
Remember that what's hard for one person may be easy for another, and vice versa. It's thus entirely possible that both your post and the one to which you linked are accurate descriptions of the boss-encounter.
I would say that if the game allows such backtracking, then the two paths aren't "routes" in the sense that we mean here. The bosses would be OptionalBosses, but not RouteBosses.
Of course, if you can only go through either the swamp or the mountain, being unable to go back and try the other, then they would be RouteBosses.
I would say "no", myself.

My Games & WritingWell, I got 50 wicks for Sandbox.Bonus Boss Wick Check. Now we just need to wait for a TRS slot to open up.
One of these days, all of you will accept me as your supreme overlord.Excellent, and thank you! ^_^
My Games & WritingGood news- a slot finally opened in TRS! Gonna make a thread for this ASAP.

Agreed.
EDIT: (O_O) Should have paid attention to the number of the messages to prevent the unexpected stuff like that...
