ETA: Relevant discussion here partially answered my questions

I'm too new to attempting to make edits to get this right and have already had edits reverted, so I want to check with other people on this.

Basically, I'm confused many tropes that are listing examples regarding the interactions between Rey and Kylo Ren/Ben Solo. There isn't a Word of God on intent between many of their interactions which are listed under examples of objective tropes. There is widespread disagreement regarding whether those are the tropes actually being used or if different subjective tropes apply. A lot of people feel 100% about their interpretations and are certain the other interpretations are incorrect; others think things are more ambiguous or subjective.

For instance, I think it's objective to state that in The Rise of Skywalker, this happens: Rey dies, Ben revives her, she calls him "Ben" and touches his face, they kiss, they smile at each other, and he dies. Regardless of whether viewers believe there was a romantic storyline leading up to this, these things factually occurred.

However, I'm seeing various pages state that this objectively makes them an Official Couple, and that this proves or makes explicit that they were in love with each other, or there was one-sided romantic love especially on Ben's part. I've also seen other moments from this and the other sequel trilogy films listed under what I think are objective romantic tropes rather than subjective ones. Many people have viewed it as subjective whether or not this is supposed to be a romance; other people are certain it's objectively a romance. It's a popular ship (possibly the most popular given the number of fics on AO 3) but it isn't universally agreed to be a romantic pairing. Many fans think the tropes applying to interactions between this pair are villainous, antagonistic, one-sided obsessive, or other non-romantic tropes.

Basically, I'm not sure that this should be written about as an inarguable depiction of a romantic couple with objective romantic tropes, given there are very polarized positions in the fandom and lack of clarity regarding creative intentions that suggest subjective tropes apply instead. I've already almost stepped into an edit war in trying to make some of the example phrasings more objective. I've looked at some discussions (but not all) that addressed these characters and there hasn't been a majority consensus on how to write about them. I don't know how this has been handled for other properties.

So basically... I'm confused, don't know if other people think this is something to address, and how to address it if so.

The Official Couple issue has actually been addressed here, with consensus saying the two are not an Official Couple.

I'm not sure if there's something wrong with your link or I'm doing something wrong because that takes me to a search page for Trope Finder posts. I tried various keyword combinations on that page that haven't turned up related results. Trying some more to see if I get a result but if that was supposed to be a direct link to a post...?

ETA: Weird, finally found what looks like the intended link with a Google search, not sure what went wrong with just clicking it. Consulting now!
