Hello and welcome! This here thread is a spoiler-free zone! Because I didn't want to be tempted to read anymore spoilers for Rise of Skywalker!

Things that are acceptable here:

  • Trailers and trailer speculation
  • Discussion of the Star Wars movies and what we would like to see/not like to see in them.
  • Discussion about anything and everything Star Wars, just...no spoilers.

Things that are not-acceptable here:

  • Spoilers! No talking about the leaks!
  • Being mean! If you disagree with someone's opinion, try not to come across as mean or rude.

And here. we. go.

Rise of Skywalker Final Trailer:

In hindsight making a thread with "spoilers obviously" in the title pretty much makes it a spoilers thread.

Full disclosure: I have not seen anything beyond the first trailer for The Rise of Skywalker because of life and also I'm just so nervous about what they're building up to.

Just a question: can we talk about the lore of both old and new continuities as long as it has nothing to do with Episode IX?

Let's talk about The Wills and if they'll factor into the third movie or not. [lol]

[up][up] I misread that and thought you wrote COOKIE JEDI and suddenly I wanted Cookie to be a Jedi.

Or maybe the Cookie Monster as a Jedi?

Now Cookie Monster can force pull cookies toward himself.

Back in the 70s-80s R2-D2 and C-3PO visited Sesame Street for real. R2 fell in love with a fire hydrant.

This is a general Star Wars question: But do Sith think the Jedi are evil?

Basically, I'm asking because I got into a small debate with someone over whether or not The Dark Side and the Sith are (intrinsically) evil, which always makes me wonder: Sith occasionally defend themselves as not evil, but they never seem to argue that the Jedi are evil.

[up] Based on Palpatine's words in ROTS, and the novelization as well, the Sith believe that the Jedi are just as power hungry and bad as they are. The only difference, according to the Sith, is that the Jedi hide their lust for power with honor restrictions and being a "service for good" whereas the Sith don't pretend or restrict themselves to such "heroic nonsense."

Thus, the Sith believe that they deserve to rule the entire galaxy and that the Jedi are in their way with their "Holier Than Thou" attitude. Of course, they ignore the fact that it was their own backstabbing ways that destroyed the Sith Order in the first place.

So the Sith are master projectors. Everyone is just as bad as them, but they're "honest" about it.

At least the Jedi don't actively back-stab and try to kill each other.

Before we finish, let's remember where we began.

It's really noticeable how much John Williams' music added to it.

I'm an old enough fart to have watched the original in 1977. I'm fine with the sequel trilogy. The complaints aren't any different than for Empire (Too dark! His mentor is a Muppet? His father is who?) and RotJ (Ewoks, yuck! Another Death Star?)

Just remember these are movies about space wizards, and are intended to be like old film serials but with a budget. That's why the space battles are old school dogfights, strafing runs, and bombing runs.

And the trailer is narrated by Orson Welles, who at one point was considered for the voice of Vader.

Thank goodness he wasn’t sloshed on wine that day in recording.
