So, I've been thinking about the tropes my main character for a game I might develop in several years or so (still in highschool), and here's a small list of tropes I think he may fall under. While I do not have ironed him out very much, he still have some areas where he definitely have a few tropes.

Brief Character Information: Elektro Avenue lives in a technology advanced city resembling Tokyo, with his parents. However, his father usually is very busy at his work, and his mother went missing when he became two. While he was mostly normal, one flaw resided in him ever since he was born: His inability to speak, therefore a mute. Luckily for him, when his father had spare time, he developed a piece of tech (technically two) and had a surgery to attach it to Elektro's head with the help of Vesiah Qancol in order for it to function properly. Since then, he gained the ability to speak (albeit slightly robotic). When he grew up, his father developed better models to combat the changes that occur throughout his growth. Since then, he has been making friends at his school, though some of them were oddballs (one of them being entirely 2D!).

Kill it with Water - While rain does not bother Elektro one bit, but getting submerged in a body of water is more than enough to cause a few shocks, and they're enough to kill him by shutting his brain down.

Heroic Mime - Somewhat subverted and downplayed. He can speak, but only when his headset / speaker device works.

Buffy Speak - Occurs when he finds out he is running out of time, or whenever he sees something he haven't seen before and attempts to come up with an name on the fly.

Badass Boast - His quips before, during or after bosses are this. This actually gets him into some hot water with a sorceress.

Why Did It Have to Be Snakes? - Gains a fear of the darkness after World 4. The world featured pitch black darkness that would consume anyone that stays in it too long, and if they strayed too far in it, a monster will straight up jumpscare them to death - Something the FNAF crew would enjoy. Considering this, he does have a legit reason.

Berserk Button - NEVER DESTROY HIS DEVICE. One guy found out about that the hard way...

Deadpan Snarker - He is prone to this, especially in his quips throughout the worlds.

Getting Crap Past the Radar - He often says things in a single string of words without pausing would result in something sounding like he swore. The would be most common example is 'Ohshootohshootohshoot.' He often claims he did not do this and asks the people that heard one of these to look at the subtitles (Breaking the 4th Wall).

Synthetic Voice Actor - Downplayed.

Does Not Like Spam - Majorly dislikes spices.

Motor Mouth - See Buffy Speak.

Would Hit a Girl - Only applies to female bosses he had to face.

Bullying a Dragon - He does this to some bosses, resulting in further fights.

Butt Monkey - Is on the receiving end of the stick of this trope sometimes.

Brick Joke - (I might have this concept wrong) Elektro at some point in his adventure mentions to Sasha that one of his worse fears is running out of time. Guess what he had to fight in World 4? A Grandfather Clock that has the power to drop him dead after it strikes an hour.

Let me know what you guys think, and any more tropes that might fit him. I might make a Pantheon page (that will never be submitted as he does not have any media existing for him) if I want to.

First, I think you might want to head over to the “Writer’s Block” forum and look into some of some the character development threads there. This forum is more for working on settings.

Second, I might caution against developing a character by assembling a list of tropes. That should come after the character is fleshed out. What is this guy’s motivation? Why is he fighting? What’s his personality like? Obviously you can play a little fast and loose with character development in a video game, but these are things worth thinking about.

They should have sent a poet.
