Why is Machina Fortress a problem? It's not like there's Big Eye or Dracossack or anything.

It´s just to keep it a little more in line with the other decks, cause everyone else sorta runs their boss monsters at 1 you know?

But all my boss monsters are in the extra deck? Fortress and Bullet Train are more combo pieces than anything.

Yeah, think so! Now I think I'll start a discussion thread, so we can solve things like the limits of your characters abilities and whatnot

I can honestly adapt pretty well for a larger number of players, but I think we can start when we get to 4 or 5

Name: Drake Blanche

Gender: Male

Age: 25

Appearance: Drake is a fairly homely guy, an average physique hidden under long sleeved shirts and long pants no matter how hot the weather gets. His short hair is kept well-brushed and trimmed and is solidly chocolate brown though the color fades at the root and tip in some places. His eyes are fairly dim, a brown iris that remains steady no matter his mood. He tries to project the words 'unimpressive' and 'friendly' out into the world.

Personality: Drake is a consummate slacker, generally considered a casual player in most circles. He's a chill, laid back person who just wants to have a fun time playing around with his cards.

Abilities: On his thirteenth birthday, Drake Blanche was visited by a vision of a being that proclaimed itself to be the goddess Minerva-Of-Blue-Eyes. According to this vision, he was chosen to become her champion and to bear her blessed decklist into a world that needed defending. If this gave him any ability beyond the deck he was provided then he has actively tried to suppress it.

Deck: When he awoke from his first vision of Minerva, Drake found at the foot of his bed a shimmering deckbox containing cards sleeved in a strange white, leathery material. This was a gift from Minerva, a decklist of extraordinary power and meta viability... That Drake has never used.

Instead, he has spent his time building and tuning his own deck that exists free of divine influence. The resulting deck is a peculiar brew made for a casual setting, a mish-mash of Flavor Magician Girls, three copies of Dark Magician Girl with different art and assorted creatures to use in straight up regular Fusions. Given all this he presumably has not found any Links to use.

Backstory: After being chosen as the champion of a goddess, Drake was always reluctant to follow the destiny laid out before him. And then somewhere along the path, when he was about sixteen or seventeen something within him snapped and he decided to forsake Minerva's gifts for his own safety. After handing over the deckbox to a card shop to keep safe he started to calm down and pull himself away from the path of the chosen one and instead embrace his own calling of casual formats. Occasionally he still dreams of the Shadow Realm or the silent mournful stare of Minerva-Of-Blue-Eyes...

It's clearly a case of backroom political albumizing.

Hiya! Hope it's not too late to drop an application!

Name: Simon Pavael

Gender: Male

Age: 27

Personality: A patient, practical man. Soft spoken, and enjoys listening to the tales that others have to share. Never leaves home without his hunting rifle. Tenacious and determined, he's up to many a challenge. Tends to trust others a bit too easily, and prone to being tricked.

Appearance: Short for his age at 5ft 4 inches (162cm), he is often dressed in a camo jacket over a T-shirt, with waterproof boots. He carries a similarly patterned backpack with various supplies. At his belt is a carefully wrapped holster where he keeps his deck. He has short scruffy black hair, under a simple cap, and pale skin, with brown eyes.

Abilities: None.

Backstory: Simon was born in rural Canada to Lydia and Francis Pavael. While not starving, the family was not particularly well-off, supplementing their income with hunting the deer and bear populations, and selling the goods. Simon, ever eager to help, often accompanied his parents on these trips, learning the trade. He adapted quickly to the task, learning how to skin and harvest the game, how to move quietly, how to shoot. As he grew up, he stayed a hunter, carefully bagging what he could during the hunting seasons. However, he noticed something. Be it the population, the lights, or the spreading cities, the animals seemed to be more sparse. Even in his home region, hunting alone wasn't going to be enough to make ends meet. Times were lean, and the young man feared for his parents, for the time when their sight would fade and their hands would shake.

Simon wasn't down yet. He recalled how the duels were broadcasted all around, and in his little rural town, children practiced their Duel Monsters skills, in hopes of being enshrined as one of the greats. Even those in minor leagues brought home huge prizes, much more than the meagre amount his chosen trade could bring him. Back then, he had assumed it was just a flight of fancy, with more practical means elsewhere, but evidently, the winds had changed. Simon buckled down and got to work. Once again, he learnt and studied, watching duels, hunting down the tools necessary. He played what matches he could, and slowly built his deck, asking others for advice. He eventually won a small cash prize, placing 4th in a minor tournament, but it wasn't enough. His patient and slow methods simply would not allow him to adapt fast enough to match the most skilled duelists. If he did not keep up, he'd be left behind, all the effort for naught.

As he walked out of the stadium that day, chastising himself for his lack of skill, he heard a rumor. A mysterious 'Gambler', one who mentored the very best in the world, hiding out in a faraway mountain. He paused for a moment. This wouldn't be practical, if he wasted time chasing ghosts, he'd be left in the dust. Yet, perhaps out of a sense of pride to the challenge, perhaps desperation, he packed his gear in a sturdy pack, and began his journey.

I think there are better trap cards than Waboku.

Quaking Mirror Force, Gladiator Beast War Chariot, etc.

Thanks! Was already running 3 copies of chariot, but yeah, Waboku and Defensive tactics is probably overkill XD

I'm not that into competitive YGO, so the advice will be very appreciated! Looking forward to playing with you guys!

Waboku is only good if you run a stall deck. Glad Beast doesn't stall.

I'm definitely interested, although I have not played the Yu-Gi-Oh! card game since 2003, and a lot has changed since then from what I can tell.

I do have an idea for a character with a deck themed around Zombie and Fiend monsters.

I think you should make a dedicated Zombie Synchro deck. Uni-Zombie, Mezuki, Gozuki, and Vampire Sucker are a must in every Zombie Deck.

[up]Okay.

I'm gonna have to do a lot of learning and research then, since I'm completely lost with the new rules.

I'm thinking my character is going to be a male Perky Goth

Think along the lines of Abby from NCIS, but he's a duelist instead of a scientist.
