Oooooh! Diverse Casting for Ned!

"Ex-con"

Ohhhhhh... Ew. :/ Now I feel dirty.

On the other hand, god it gets my nostalgia up for the old PC games. I miss those so much.

Saw the first episode. It was better than expected. Quite surprised that ghosts actually exist — I totally expected it to be some sort of Scooby-Doo style mystery where it turned out that the ghost was just some scheme pulled by some shady person. But nope: ghosts actually exist in the Nancy Drew universe.

"The original books had a lot of hints of the supernatural, but it was always people in masks," she said. "We thought it would be cool to put actual ghosts into the show." Hsu-Taylor added that they originally had a less subtle way to show the focus of the series: "The original title of the series was The Haunting of Nancy Drew, so we had this idea from the beginning."

Oh and I made a works page for it.

Kind of weird to think this show is going full supernatural while Riverdale is only now entertaining the idea of possible ghosts.

Just caught up on this show, and I'm loving it.

I think making the supernatural unambiguously real helps the narrative a lot. It lets most episodes have our heroes facing immediate danger, without escalating things to the point where the criminal conspiracy is bumping people off all over the place, which is something that these sorts of small town murder mystery shows can struggle with.

I also love how they're taking characters who, in the first episode, didn't really like each other, mostly just being co-workers who didn't get along well, and having this investigation slowly turn them into True Companions.

Yeah. I see it get a decent amount of flak from fans of the books and games but as someone who never read/played those I'm enjoying this. Do we know how many episodes this season is going to be? I know some shows start with a small number and get more episodes in later seasons/have their first season expanded but there are also some CW shows that stick with a small number of episodes.

Speaking of which, do you think the current mysteries are going to last the entire show or do you think we might get seasonal mysteries like over on Riverdale? Personally I'm hoping for the latter though even as a Riverdale fan I hope they handle it better if they decide to go that route.

Do we know how many episodes this season is going to be?
The CW picked it up for a full season, so 22 episodes.

I have little doubt that they'll resolve the "who killed Tiffany Hudson and Lucy Sable?" mystery by season's end, though there will likely be other, smaller mysteries that are left open.

Can anyone with a much better knowledge of Native American cultures tell me if what the hell this episode did with Mc Ginnis has any authenticity?

This isn't related to the show, but it does involve Nancy Drew, so here it is:

Nancy Drew's 90th anniversary is around the corner, so how do you celebrate such a beloved literature icon?

BY KILLING HER AND HAVE IT STAR THE HARDY BOYS, OF COURSE!

Yeah, I wish I was making this up!

Real talk though, while I'm more than positive that this is just a fake-out, it still feels like a total dick move to celebrate Nancy Drew by (supposedly) offing her and shoving the spotlight towards the Hardy Boys...

Plus, she has her own TV show now and last year had her own mini-series written by Kelly Thompson, so this just seems bizarre.

Season 2 premiered this week, and we meet yet another evil spirit haunting Horseshoe Bay. I'm beginning to think they should check the town for a Hellmouth.

Well, I thought this was a decent enough start for the second season. Interesting to see what this new spirit has in store for Nancy and crew.

I wonder who, if any of the gang, will die.

Yeah, I'm enjoying it.

Anybody else laugh at "Man, the Bobbsey Twins are hardcore!"? Because on the one hand, in-universe, yes, I can see it in this episode. But on the other hand out of context... [lol]

"I've got a TV show!" Tom broadcasted.

Tom Swift, a part of the Stratemeyer literary universe along with Nancy and the Hardy Boys, is getting his own show. It premieres May 31, with Tian Richards as Tom and LeVar Burton as the voice of his AI sidekick Barclay.

CW has released the first trailer for this series' spin-off series: Tom Swift.

As an exceptionally brilliant inventor with unlimited resources and unimaginable wealth, the devilishly charming Tom Swift is a man who many men would kill to be or be with. But that world gets shaken to its core after the shocking disappearance of his father, thrusting Tom into a breathtaking adventure full of mysterious conspiracies and unexplained phenomena.

It'd be nice if Nancy solved a mystery not involving ghosts.

Author of The Rules of Supervillainy, Cthulhu Armageddon, and United States of Monsters.
