That synopsis seems... weird. Not the good kind of weird. Just... weird.
I trust Ikuhara to put out something that's interesting, at least. The concept looks a bit iffy (though who knows how things will actually go), and I don't especially care for the art style
Well... I'm trying to cross my fingers despite the concept is a bit weird... We'll see what happens
"Making screw-ups and mistakes was I ever really good at. Because everything I touch went to hell."Japanese mythology sure have a lot of toilet humor.
E.T technically is a Isekai movieI hate to be That Guy, but I was at least thinking of checking this out until I realized it was an Ikuhara show. Hard pass from me.
It's been fun.Eh, I like some of Ikuhara's stuff. Enough to be curious about this anime, at least. Do we have a date for the premiere yet?
You're just becoming the threadmaker of the Anime forums, aren't you?
@Lovecraftian Yes, yes I am because I had a pleasure on doing so.
@Red Savant Huh... Any reasons why you dont like Ikuhara?
"Making screw-ups and mistakes was I ever really good at. Because everything I touch went to hell."@Elfen: Not really. Penguindrum and Yuri Kuma just disagreed with me intensely, and I didn't really see the point in continuing to watch them. I got like two episodes into Penguindrum and halfway into episode 1 of Yuri Kuma, and I just realized I wasn't enjoying myself at all.

It's been fun.Understandable on why you have the reason like that.
"Making screw-ups and mistakes was I ever really good at. Because everything I touch went to hell."anyone here watched the first episode... lmk what are your thoughts on it.
"Making screw-ups and mistakes was I ever really good at. Because everything I touch went to hell."It was very... juicy.
i. hear. a. sound. It was great. Absolutely weird and somewhat gross, but great all the same. It's my favorite premiere this season, to be honest.
Otone and Enta sure look a lot like Lulu and her brother. And the cops are a lot like the judges... I wonder if this is some sort of alternate universe to Yuri Kuma Arashi?
Episode 1:
HOLY MOLY What the hell did I just watch!? The show is like Satoshi Kon's levels of mindf**kery and I love it!!! So the main characters ended up as Kappa though and tries to cover the innermost desires. I can't even comprehend the main story with such words. Anyways, the animation is great, the story is interesting even if its WTF-ish at times and the music is alright. Definitely looking forward to this show
"Making screw-ups and mistakes was I ever really good at. Because everything I touch went to hell.""WTF Did I just Watch?" is a very standard reaction to episode 1 of any Ikuhara show.
Relax and enjoy the ride. It won't all make sense until the end.
Honestly "WTF did I just watch" is kind of what you go into an Ikuhara series looking for.
Though to be fair first episodes are especially bad as you don't have enough information to sort out where symbolism is substituting for plot, plot is substituting for symbolism and when Ikuhara is just trolling the audience.
@Screwy Hmmmm... You may have a point
"Making screw-ups and mistakes was I ever really good at. Because everything I touch went to hell."Well… What the fuck did I just watch indeed. It's my first time watching an Ikuhara show and that's one hell of a first impression.
First, I felt like I just watched an hour-long episode before realizing it was just twenty minutes. Second… I'm confused, yet for some reason confident that it'll all make sense at the end. Like, maybe the not!Amazon boxes are a symbol for mindless consumption or some shit…
…Also, yeah, when the king kappa was introduced I suddenly understood why Mother's Basement advised viewers to lock their door while watching the show.
I don't know if it was my favorite première this season exactly, but it was certainly the most creative. It definitely has my favorite opening though, now that Dororo has replaced GIVE ME FAIYAAAAAAAAAH.
Pretty sure the boxes are meant to represent people's secrets, which is why every character has one, and why the main character's secret being revealed meant his box was open and everyone could see what was inside of it. Also, because his secret could cause him problems, he has to carry it around with him at all times, and can never show the contents to anyone else... so yeah, pretty sure box=secrets here.
So I actually got around to watching the first episode.
That was definitely an Ikuhara show.
Though for the purposes of forum discussions like this its not really fair because while I'm sure there was a lot of important information revealed in this episode we don't actually have the context necessary to start interpreting it yet.
Episode 2 today:
I see Kazuki causes problems for others due to his desires which ended up with a guy wanting to be a cat so his GF will love him becoming a zombie.
Also dat Kiss. Was not expecting that by episode 2.
Every accusation by the GOP is ALWAYS a confession. With phones being rather prominent, I hope we get a ringtone at some point. I’ve had WAAAAAAAA-LU-LU-LU-LU from Yuri Kuma for yeeeeears.
i. hear. a. sound.Soundtrack song titles are also online.
Every accusation by the GOP is ALWAYS a confession.
Alright, another thread made by me because why not. This time is for a new anime called Sarazanmai. For those who don't know what it is, here's the summary courtesy of MAL:
"The stage is Asakusa.
One day, three second-year middle school students — Kazuki Yasaka, Toi Kuji, and Enta Jinai — meet a kappa-like creature named Keppi, who is the self-proclaimed heir to the throne of Kappa Kingdom. Keppi forcibly takes the students' shirikodama (a mythical organ kappa steal through a person's anus) and they are transformed into kappa. Keppi informs them, "If you want to return to your former selves, you need to connect in 'that way' and you must bring me the shirikodama of zombies." Will the three boys be able to connect and take the shirikodama of zombies? At the same time, two policemen, Reo Niiboshi and Mabu Akutsu, try to do something at the police box where they are stationed."
Yes yes I know the anime isn't aired yet but I made a thread just for anticipation. Anyways, this is the anime made by the same guy who created Mawaru-Penguindrum, Kunihiko Ikuhara and some people could interpret his works as weird but intriguing at the same time. One question: Are you hyped with this anime or not?
