The Demons have more or less been on the level in this series.

[up] Yeah which is what I found weird. Demons ain't really famous for that and "we will keep your realm off limits but have no qualms attacking anyone outside" is surprisingly tame by Deal with the Devil standards.

Though I guess some would have to be in order to make even the appearence that a deal could benefit anyone but the demon even remotely plausible.

Asura even turned down someone else offering their life to him because it's apparently against the rules for him to take another life if the initial contract is still incomplete.

[up] Yeah, I think they said "he's still waiting to get his promised bit of Hyakkimaru so he is still more or less bound by that deal". Like Terry Pratchett's Discworld where the Assassins' Guild cannot take a contract if you have a standing contract on your head - first come first serve. It's actually the best insurance in the line of work where your rivals are liable to just get someone to off you.

I still find it weird that most of the demons we've seen don't even seem capable of speech despite taking part in the deal.

[up] I mean, they're demons, they don't really need to speak, they can probably communicate via thoughts or similar.

[up] From what we've seen most of them just act like slathering monsters and show no signs of higher thought.

And there it's done. I would call that a somewhat odd but overall satisfying conclusion myself, and a good series that was delightful to follow for six months.

Same

Powerful stuff. I’m happy with what they did

Very bittersweet

I don't think Jukai, Nui and Tahoumaru had to die, but otherwise it is the kind of ending I expected. Actually, the imagery surrounding Nui in this episode was strangely… Christian-like? Or maybe that's just my Western bias.

Kinda sad to know that the project of a peaceful, prosperous community Dororo and her new pals strive for is doomed to fail considering the kind of era they're gonna live through. sad

Even Daigo showed the slightest glimpse of humanity at the very end… Bittersweet indeed…

That brief shot of adult (?) Dororo at the end was all I needed. waii Also strange how different Hyakkimaru looks just by having "real" eyes…

What I’m guessing is that Tahomaru was actually dying at that point and Nui wanted to stay with him. Jukai always had a death wish but was fine this time because he finally got to help and see Hyakkimaru genuinely saved in spirit

They probably needed to convey that better. But it was very sad.

Dororo really does take after her mother smile

Hyakki after all this and with his eyes; it’s because he finally looks gentle

My favorite moment might be Daigo thinking to himself that if he hadn't sacrificed his son, the boy would have grown up to be a great young man that might have saved the land thrugh will and determination. Instead now he has lost absolutely everything, while the same son has gotten everything back.

Good final episode, though the body count felt somewhat unnecessary

Overall, I liked the show when it was dealing with the Daigo side of thing and Hyakkimaru's backstory, but found the monster of the week plots fairly dull. A mixed bag
