In my story, the races that are currently inhabit the world have discovered and reverse engineer many technology left behind by the precursor( including the equivalent of the precursors internet). But then they discovered a series of mysterious cubes that they thought to be some kind of super weapon or super technology blueprint( but in actually is just the precursor version of game cartridge but with super advance A.I).

Can a precursor race have the same genre of video game as human do?( like fighting game, puzzle game, platformer game,RPG, ...)

Tell us a little more about your precurser race. What conditions they evolved under, what their society was like, the basis of their technology, and related details. That will allow us to better judge what kind of entertainment genres they might have developed. If you havnt worked out those details yet, I would encourage you to start there. The more you as the author know about your own universe, the richer and more seamless the presenation will be to the readers.

That said, I would have to say I think its unlikely an alien race would invent the exact categories of games that we did.

The precursor world was a jungle world that they slowly cultivate for millions of years. They was a hunter-gathering society that have a highly competitive culture, each member try to prove themselves in the eyes of their tribe members through various games and sports, always to challenge themselves and others. this attitude was still remain in their society millions year later. At the height of their civilization, they most advance technology was exclusively in the field of computer( virtual reality, cyber space, A.I) and genetic engineer. Their society was completely obsessed with pleasure, games, sport competition and entertainment in their virtual reality , most members are more concern about their virtual life than their real life. A.I and machine were the main work force that provided for the population. By the point of their end, they culture had completely revolved around virtual reality, their city barely have anyone walking on the streets, only machine working tirelessly. When a catastrophe event was predicted by their scientist that will destroyed most life on the planet and render it inhabitable for millions of years, the government was given 2 options: they can use an highly experimental technology to digitize their population in a series of super computers that will be hide away in underground bunkers, thus preserving their knowledge at the cost of their physical body; the second option was use another highly experimental process to modify their body, allow them to survive in stasis and can adapt to the new environment but at the risk of a high chance that the subject will lost it reasoning ability and reverse to be a mindless beast. Rather than use the time they had to perfect one of the technology, the precursors politician used this as a opoturnity to grap power, support one option while strongly oppose the other one to gain vote and and influence, divided the population into 2 extreme side. This lead to civil war between two factions in the name of preserving their race purity. In the end, their civil war destroyed them before the catastrophe happen with the only things left was their A.I and machine that slowly crumble under the sand of time.

Gee, that doesnt sound like a parody of anything at all...

I would imagine that such a culture would invent quite a few more "genres" of competitive activities than we ever did—presumably their online life was more complex and rewarding than our real one. My advice is to go crazy trying to think up as many as possible and run with them.
