The show could admittedly benefit from an Art Shift. As someone who liked it, the animation was the weak link more often than not. Of course that begs the question if such a shift will result in higher quality.
Any idea when it will air on HBO Max? By the sounds of it, it's currently under production, I take it?
If my post doesn't mention a giant flying sperm whale with oversized teeth and lionfish fins for flippers, it just isn't worth reading.I would guess 2021 tbh. Maybeeeeeeee late 2020. It's clearly being set up to be part of the orginal content second wave for Max
Cool. Thanks.
I might actually get around to watching Red vs Blue by then.
If my post doesn't mention a giant flying sperm whale with oversized teeth and lionfish fins for flippers, it just isn't worth reading.I hunted down the gen:Lock comics and they’re pretty good. It’s a shame so few people are reading them because this would be an ideal way to bridge the gap between seasons, especially for what is presumed to be a large influx of viewers via Toonami and HBO MAX.
Also, seeing how the characters are drawn in the comic makes me wonder more about any potential Art Shift.
Also we see Roboshogun on a poster. It’s Raideen.

This article mentions the season 2 writing staff, and how they're being more inclusive behind the scenes.
The first spinoff novel, Storm Warning, was just released. Initial reviews seem fairly positive for what is essentially a YA spinoff.
Ooooh, probably a lot of juicy lore tidbits in there. Might have to check it out.
So this show is still in production, although with all the Rooster Teeth controversies, it appears it’s being outsourced to Bardel Entertainment, a Canadian based animation studio most noted for The Dragon Prince.
Honestly, probably an improvement. They do solid work, with none of Rooster Teeth's residual amateurish jank (that never completely went away no matter how big they got). Wonder who'll be handling writing, though? Seem to recall a fair chunk of that was by RT staff as well.
What's precedent ever done for us?I been out of the loop but what's been happening with Rooster Teeth?
The production of Gen:Lock was an unpleasant experience to put it mildly. Gray Haddock, the show’s creator, hired a lot of temps with the promise of permanent jobs (before reneging on them) and went crazy over time and budget, including pulling a stunt from the old Cannon Films playbook, stealing money from other projects to fund it.
Many of the rank and file interviewed since then have flat out called the experience “traumatic”. Coupled with mass layoffs, particularly in their animation department, and RT is outsourcing the second season.
Yeah, it really put a black mark on the Animation department for a while, but Gray resigned and stuff so now things are hopefully much better.
GENLOCK is getting a crossover with the free to play game Paladins
Probably the best sign that work on season 2 is coming along
Comic Con at Home has the first look at Gen:Lock Season 2 -
And here’s the Season 2 trailer -
Something about the look of the animation doesn't feel right, but I can't put my finger on it.
Hopefully, it's just because it's a trailer.

Michael B Jordan definitely sounds like a more experienced voice actor already.
Well, he's also voicing Killmonger in that Marvel What If series.
So, is it still the case that there will be a three-month delay from the HBO Max release before it appears on RT?
If my post doesn't mention a giant flying sperm whale with oversized teeth and lionfish fins for flippers, it just isn't worth reading.Well, gen:LOCK has arrived at the RT website, so I guess I'll be seeing what they did to the new series.

3 Months after it airs on HBO Max it will air on RT's site.
Some other info, the comics are quite good, farrrr superior to rwby's and there heavily hinting that Kazu x Val is goign to become a thing:
And as for the actual show, RT is working with a 3rd party studio in Vancouver for the animation this time. Which makes sense after all the issues RT had with production of the first season: https://jobs.lever.co/roosterteeth/48408235-77ee-4fba-8840-9f4a53d28ff1
