So the thing with the Witch-boy that died isn't resolved yet, guessing it might become more important leading into the next season.

Also did anyone else kind of think Salem might be the co-conspirator Ambrose didn't give up?

Well, that’s not a sentence I ever expected to see.

While I agree that they should be compensated for plagiarizing the statue without permission I find the the Satanic Temple's complaints about the show being "Asinine Satanic panic." to be kind of silly given that they choose a symbolic totem for their philosophy that is so deeply rooted occultism and perceptions of black magic has been in Judeo-Christian mythology.

Episode 1:

I quite like how Sabrina doesn't really bat an eyelid when Ambrose mentions some of the more unsavory practices of the Spellmans during the whole curse thing.

For all Sabrina wants to do some things differently, like having a partnership with Salem. She definitely has a lot of witch traits.

Also when she midewipes Harvey mainly because of the conversation going badly.

I also liked how Michelle Gomez's character is going for the soft sell for the most part. Makes a lot of sense.

Apparently there's a winter holiday/Solstice episode going to be released December 14th.

I wonder if this was something they filmed for season 2 and decided to release early, or if they had this in mind all along.

Since its ready to go two months after Season 1 launched, I would assume it was just filmed as a nice bonus. Sense 8 also had a Christmas episode between seasons.

They've also said that the christmas episode will continue post-Season 1 rather than be in a bubble. So that's nice.

I'd also like to point out, while I had a longer post about it, REAL Satanism is most atheistic and doesn't actually believe in Satan or Lucifer. More, its name derives from being counter cultural to the catholic church. Of note, their ten commandments also deal with things like bodily autonomy and other concepts while the catholic 10 commandments have... a lot to do with property ownership and 'respect me and worship me or go to hell'.

I can see why the Satanic Temple might be a bit upset at the association. Fair is fair.

I know how Satanism works, it just seems very childish for them to complain that when they chose to represent their philosophy with a Biblical demon who is not such a great guy and then get up in arms when media that features that Biblical demon and his supernatural followers acting in a appropriately unpleasant manner. Satan is a much older figure then their church and palpable part of Judeo Christian mythology and folkloric witchcraft, it seems silly to try and protect his good image or criticize how media portrays the worship of a figure pretty much synonymous with evil.

I mean, I don't disagree, but I don't agree either.

I have a friend that legit ends conversation when this show comes up "Because Satanism" and goes into a thing about the Satanic Temple... without even knowning how the show presents these things nor what the actual Satanic Temple believes. Which is sad because Sabrina is a genuinely good show.

I apologize if I projected any of that onto you.

Um... in't that kinda false advertising? I mean, they've got satan in their name for fucks sake. 🤦‍♂️

Again, from my understanding, its a counter-cultural thing. "We don't agree with anything the Catholic Church does and the Catholic Church is against Lucifer and us, so I guess we're roped in with Satan than".

Kind of a 'Let me be evil' but only in name.

I thought it was alright, not amazing but still pretty enjoyable. It did take me 2 weeks to watch, when I normally would get though a netflix show in 3-4 days max, so maybe that's a little indicative?

I was a fan of the fact the show definitely showed Sabrina as more in the wrong that I thought they would. Especially with the whole killing that girl.

I also really dig the new post power up look.

I'm still not a huge fan of her friends arcs, although they certainly got a lot more interesting when they came into contact with the magical.

I also was not a fan of Roz's grandmother putting Roz and Susie in mortal peril in the last episode. I guess you could justify it with her future sense. But man that scene irritated me that they couldn't figure out a better justification.

The current satanist church is a deliberate effort to troll the US government into taking separation of church and state seriously. - The statue which the show so blatantly ripped off? Well, the original version of it was a statue the satanists insisted on having put up next to one of those ten-commandments monuments the christian right are so very fond of.

Oh hey, that's relatively soon. And we're getting a Christmas episode the week after next, right? That should tide us over nicely.

Looks fun.

Season 1 wasn't the best thing I've ever watched.

But I'll definitely be watching Season 2.note

I'm looking forward to seeing Sabrina mesh fully into the witch world.

It seems she's certainly keeping the power up she got from the finale given the casual magic used in the trailer.

I'm not yet finished season 1 (due to watching it with someone I don't live with and they'd be mad if I went on ahead without them), but the witches really don't seem to realize that their numbers might be dwindling because of casual murder, annual ritual sacrifice, and forbidding interbreeding.

Possibly not as every coven has different rules, kind of hinted at via Mrs. Wardwell's cover in relation to the coven. Its possible that Sabrina's coven is shrinking if they never interact with any others, but if there is far more open transference of witches or even outright marriage between covens, it might not be a big deal.

I've always wanted to read the Chilling Adventures of Sabrina comic but never did, so how is the tv-series so far? How is it different from Sabrina The Teenage Witch? Any major differences?

Its a teen drama/thriller compared to a sitcom, for starters. Lot bloodier and gorier.

[up][up][up][up].. No witch with any grasp of numbers would willingly join Sabrina coven, except as an elaborate act of suicide - There just are not that many people in the coven, but they sacrifice one of their own every year, which, given that they can live for centuries... yhea, that is the all-dominating cause of death.

It IS also possible that these family might have an old school trend of having LOTS of children to make up for the population problems? It also depends I guess on if magic and witchcraft is learned or heriditery?

Or it could just be a simple representation problem of the medium. They can't quite present the proper size of the community in the show.

I doubt it's a representation problem, as they outright said "Our numbers are dwindling" a few times
