Jujutsu Kaisen

Alright, since this manga got the first rank on the Shonen Jump (Which I'm truly surprised at). I think it's time for me to make a thread and a discussion based on this. As I'm truly impressed that this manga who started in bottom ranks ended up to the top of the Shonen Jump ranks which is impressive and I hope the manga will survive later on in the future and got an anime adaptation.

Anyways, for those who don't know about the story of the manga. Here's the brief summary on Mangarock: "Yuuji Itadori is a genius in track and field with both speed and strength, but he’d rather spend his time in the Occult Research Club. The day after this grandfather’s death, he bumps into Megumi Fushiguro from Jujutsu Specialty High School, who is looking for the cursed object that the Occult Research members found.

Faced with the horrific monsters that the cursed object spawned, Yuuji swallows it to gain its power and save his friends! But now Yuuji is the one that’s cursed, and he’ll be dragged into Megumi’s thrilling world of exorcists and evil monsters..."

I've skimmed all of the 17 chapters that was translated and needless to say...While this is not my cup of tea. I think I'm a little bit intrigued by this manga and it's rather understandable why it ended up in the top of the Shonen Jump. Characters are interesting, story is alright, art is a bit unique etc etc. So all in all, I'm cool with this surviving Jump for a long time and try to find a place with the likes of Kimetsu no Yaiba or Promised Neverland and hopefully it gets an anime but we'll see...

Anyway, back when it started I remember that I wasn't impressed by the first chapter, but I might take a look again. After all I was pleasantly surprised by Act-age, which I had ignored at first. To climb the rankings so quickly it has to do something right…

Maybe... I was also truly surprised that this manga got ended up higher in Shonen Jump rankings... There must be something interesting that happened in there.

And as for \ posts... Hmmmm i dont know... Might be my computer or some bugs I guess :/

Fuck! it seems that the latest chapter got updated six days ago and i didnt notice it. will try to read it and give my thoughts on it.

Alright, just read the latest chapter:

It seems that the teacher...Gojou or whatever his name was, got a secret admirer and the Megane girl doesn't have a power to use a magic...Interesting and she also has an alright motivation on why she become a shaman that wants to get rid of the curses. Also, Seems that Itadori will be back banishing the curses, this time it's on the cinema haha.

Oh! And I just read the recent chapter of Jujutsu Kaisen:

So the reason why the three people in cinema died by getting deformed is because a curse wants to teach them a lesson and then there's the fact that those 3 who died were actually bullies from a school who tormented the person who also went into the cinema with those 3. Also, there's a bit conflicting perspective between Yuji and this new exorcist, who apparently hates being one and working as a salesman so yeah...

I'm keeping an eye on this one. The art is definitely amateurish, like some action scenes don't really get the impact they should. But the characters are entertaining enough, and I like the grotesque monster designs.

But really everyone, especially the MC, is so damn chill.

"This creepy finger has powers? Nom."

"I died? Time to battle this demon inside me I guess."

"I came back to life. Oh, hi, Sensei".

Really a nice break from all other hot-blooded Shonens.

Probably. I think the MC is a bit passable though IMO but has a room to develop.

Also, while the art reminds me a bit of Bleach. Yeah, I won't gonna deny that the monster design kind of creeps me out.

I don't read the series, but I fixed the grammar a bit in the description. And since the editing tip that appeared said "we don't care whether a series is popular or not", I removed the part about the Jump rankings (it's still too early to tell if that will stick anyway).

Not gonna be surprised if that emo-kid, Junpei, and his mentor Mahiro or something like that will be the archnemesis that Yuuji has to face. Mahiro's philosophy, while I don't buy it, is rather interesting. And yeah, glad that Yuuji still felt empathy towards other people that got a Fate Worse than Death. And the stoic character, he's alright and interesting IMO.

This is interesting to read. Though I'm unsure if JJK could overtake Kimetsu no Yaiba or Black Clover though...But it would be nice if it happens.

Oh yeah... Apparently Gege created a prequel based on this manga called Tokyo Metropolitan High School and I think theres a tie in with the sequel... Also, cant wait for the next chapters to be translated for jjk.

For the prequel... It was nice to read. Seems that Gege's artstyle evolved as the time goes on.

Me too buddy. I hope most of the peeps from TV Tropes also having some attention regarding this manga. And yeah, the story's like Bleach but I think it has a potential to be on its own.

I heard that the prequel is only 4 chapters long. So I guess it's more of a side story?

Chapter 22:

Todays chapter: The stoic salesman vs The High Grade Curse who asks some Armour Piercing question... The salesman still remains calm haha...

And yeah... This time also marks the first time Itadori met with the emo kid, Junpei, and the scene where Itadori pulls Junpei's sensei pants off is funny.

Since JJK translate like 3 new chapters. Im going to give my thoughts one by one. Chapter 23:

More fights regarding Mahito and the Salesman and more interactions between Yuji and Junpei and they talk about a movie. It seems someone watching them from afar.

Chapter 24:

A MILF appears and more interactions with Junpei and Itadori and one of the interactions is either about the movie or the Armour-Piercing Question that Junpei had. And holy hell that ending though!

Chapter 25:

Oof, the best MILF dies and now its the beginning of a downer chapter which is the battle against Junpei and seems that the school children was affected by the curse

Chapter 26 & 27:

Holy fuck that's... Dark. Literally fuck Mahito and Sukuna and poor Junpei though. Now Itadori is suffering a BSOD
