I thought the fights were really fun. It's like Ultra Man meets Gao Gai Gar.

Mega Man fanatic extraordinaireThe fights are fun when you think about the heft and weight of the combatants. Like tokusatsu productions. You feel the weight on the hits and the impact. Not to mention the CG actually works here. This looks a lot better than some more recent attempts at the Humongous Mecha genre.
And come on Gridman Calibur with the Obari pose. All mecha anime should do the Obari pose at least once.

I'm going to hazard a guess and say that the world they're in is in fact a digital space - this would explain reality can be rewritten in such a way.
By that same token, I'm going to theorize that our protagonist has never actually attended this high school - everyone else just thinks he did. It would be weird for a genuine Ordinary High-School Student to just spontaneous gain amnesia, after all - what narrative reason would there be for that.

Oh God! Natural light!Episode 2:
Another cool monster fight. And it was revealed that Akane is Evil All Along and the one who killed the Voleyball team and the teacher while wiping the memories of all people and replacing them. Interesting... Oh! And there's the new mysterious character who is a clumsy Samurai who brought many swords and is revealed to be the sword of Gridman...Cool!

"Making screw-ups and mistakes was I ever really good at. Because everything I touch went to hell."There's some theories regarding the SSSS in the show title actually standing for "Superhuman Samurai Syber Squad". The fact that our first mystery man in black is named Samurai Calibur leans into that somewhat.
This is a lot darker and creepier than I expected from a "Giant robot fighting kaijuu" series, what's with the people getting ret gone by a vengeful psycho bitch.
Still, pretty interesting.
Have we talked about the Transformers connection yet?
What's precedent ever done for us?Syber Squad was the localization, yes?
"They truly were a Aqua Teen Hunger Force"It's cool that they're referencing it.
Have the Sentai shows ever reference Power Rangers?
"They truly were a Aqua Teen Hunger Force"Gobusters did at the very least. The transformation devices actually said "It's Morphin' Time"

Sounds like she's friends with Monika.
Ok, who let Light Yagami in here?Apparently the director's main priority for the designs of Akane and Rikka was for Akane to have a huge rack and that Rikka have thick thighs and a robust ass. So that's a thing.
I'd link the article but some of the images in it are kind of NSFW and I don't want the mods coming down on my head. Just search "Asses and Thighs are SSSS.Gridman Director’s Priority for Its Main Heroine’s Character Design" and you'll find it.
Glad to know that Director has his priorities straight.
That's very... honest.
Mega Man fanatic extraordinaireI do kind of adore how one of the big shows this season is the director's lovingly-made genderbent Optimus/Megatron slash fic.
What's precedent ever done for us?To be fair the fact that the very first thing we hear about Akane was a background character praising her figure was already a huge flag.
Also am I the only one who thinks that Akane looks like an evil Mashu Kyrielight (short pink hair, big rack, glasses) in her casual clothes?

Now that you mention it she does.
So... are they in the Matrix or what?
Dopants: He meant what he said and he said what he meant, a Ninety is faithful 100%.I would shocked if they weren't, frankly.
Oh God! Natural light! Not gonna lie I'd be a little disappointed if they were to pull an "everything and anyone is digital so all who died can be brought back card" just to justify Akane joining the good guys because I honestly I like her better as a villain and I doubt she'd be able to pull that off as well as Monika

Huh, someone used the Superhuman Samurai Syber Squad theme song.
While I understand it is bad for a director to have "let character Alice have a big butt" as a priority thing, in fact I think it is a good idea to have characters that are not all shaped the same. I would especially approve if some characters were allowed to have some fat and be suggested to be attractive.
Yeah, I noticed that too.
