Did a forum search and couldn't find one covering this. Cold War era, turn based, espionage and puzzle combat... thing. Basically, XCOM without the aliens, but the ability to lose your own troops to Manchurian Candidate programming or planting your own. Some comparisons to Invisible Inc as well, as the missions encourage espionage and stealth.

Some videos:

For a streamers view:

Some concept Trailers:

And a Dev interview:

Looks pretty interesting! The tutorial is pretty basic and so far seems that there's two initial campaign perspectives (KGB / CIA) but also a locked one. Also, apparently the underlying plot is about a conspiracy that may or may not involve the major powers. Features:

- Recruitable and trainable agents (Can be subverted) - Base building (Top down) - Base infiltration (YOUR OWN and others) - Stealth and combat focused gameplay - A "geosphere" to deploy and plan operations - so not as reactive as the XCOM one - An "incident board" where you can try to unravel the mystery of the conspiracy - you can assign an agent here OR do it yourself.

With this and the new Gollop game (Phoenix Point) seems the genre's getting a fair boost!

It looks really interesting. If they can nail the atmosphere of espionage and subterfuge well, this'll be an amazing game.

The developers worked on Hard West, so they have experience in the genre already.

I enjoyed Hard West - it got a bit grim quickly (as to be expected) and had some difficulty spikes. Overall loved it and still need to finish it.

This is definitely ambitious, but looking at their prior experience it'll be fun I think. Hard West had a fairly linear story - with a broad choose-your-own-adventure map was good.

So far the maps nail the vibe, so I'm excited.

I like Hard West even if I didn't really finished it...so yeah, looking forward to this one. This one seems closer to XCOM than HW's linear mission progression as well, which is great. Just wish that they'll be mapgen instead of XCOMEU completely premade maps though.

I'm keen for this - the gameplay demos looked really interesting and show how you can solve each mission in a different way (Compared to XCOM's combat only approach). How the strategic global layer works I'm really interested in.

Looks like there's 2 campaigns - CIA, KGB, then a third, locked campaign as well. The UK gets mentioned, so I can't see how we'd get cold war espionage without some MI 6 cameo's. Or maybe we get to play as the BAD GUYS as well?

Though I thought originally we were an independent intelligence agency.

The game is due out this week (August 14th according to reports) with a PC, PS 4 and Xbox One release. I've started off a trope page based on information available so far - from release info and various video playthroughs.

Great work on the page

It'll be interesting to see what sort of villainous plan they come up with

Not yet - There was an offer on on GOG - if you owned Hard West you got 15% off.

So I've bought it, gonna see how it plays later.
