Where do you go to pick up readers for new material? How does one advertise? There is so much content out there, so many competing voices, and no one wants to click on a banner ad. My S/O keeps saying I should mention my work on a tropes forum somewhere, but I'm not sure where/if it's appropriate.I picked up one reader from a random mention on Kevin and Ursula Eat Cheap (I wrote a funny label) but that's not really an ad. Every once in a while someone mentions me on Facebook and I get some hits from that, but I don't pick up a crazy amount of return traffic. I think the content is okay (character-driven web serial with steampunk/clockpunk/magitek elements and frequent ridiculous plot escalation) but it's just invisible. (I can't really have a Facebook page myself, because I have to use my real name and my family will find me and I do not like them)

Link here, for the curious: https://tinsoldierserial.wordpress.com/ (Sorry, I'm not sure whether to use B Bcode or HTML. For some reason the "Show Markup Help" button seems to not be working for me.) I won't use a lot of space shilling and describing plot because I don't yet know if I'm being obnoxious.

Whoops. Thoroughly misunderstood what you were wanting and thought you were looking for someone to read/check/critique your MS.

My bad.

I mean, if you want to do that, please do. I've got like three regular readers right now and if I pick up even one more at this point, it's a huge increase. I will not say no to anyone from here who would like to read, or offer criticism or discussion. Even the equivalent of Netflix hate-watching would be a plus, because maybe you might hate it so much, you mention it to someone, and they also get curious. I won't press for a commitment to come back every week and continue the adventures of "crazy magicians who live in substandard housing" but, you know, there's always the possibility if people try it they might like it, so I WANT people to try it.

I can offer beta stuff I haven't published on the site yet, too, if that would be more appropriate.
