Based on the description, I can't tell if Adult Fear is about "a character is worried about a particular, non-supernatural, bad thing happening" or "something scary that could happen in real life happens". The second one seems like it's basically Nightmare Fuel, and the Nightmare Fuel page describes Adult Fear with the second definition.
Adult Fear is very common on the wiki, and many uses note I will provide a wick check if requested based on responses to this post seem to be attempts to squeeze Nightmare Fuel on the main page or do "Nightmare Fuel, but not as bad". Other uses amount to "something bad happens in this work", which, while tropeworthy, seems very high level akin to The Protagonist or Character Death, and it seems like there ought to be lower-level subtropes that would cover this.
If the only second definition applies, where would examples of the first go?
