No seriously, Belos' demise was perfect until that stomp. That was giving what Belos wanted, a reason to hate witches once again.

You say that like he at any point wasn't constantly making up new reasons to hate witches, and that he wouldn't continue to do so.

[up][up] That second-to-last moment was him literally begging Luz to save him. Insisting that they are humans and better, in spite of the obvious fact he's a mud monster and she's a Titan-Human hybrid. It's like seeing a man asking the heavens for vindication and receiving only silence in response. That is something more powerful than just stomping on him.

Besides, the best pain inflicted on Belos are the self-inflicted ones. Like this alternatetake on his death scene.

That’s what I like to see. Belos being forced to face reality. No more delusions to hide behind. Belos facing the truth…

Anyone have any more comics like this?

[up][up]Even so, Belos was too dangerous to leave any possibility of surviving, and he'd see not enabling him when he asks as the same as actively hindering him regardless.

[up][up]People like Philip are just too wrapped up in their own worldview to ever see the truth. They aren't worth the effort to convince.

And in his case, he's also just too dangerous to be allowed to go off and potentially cause more trouble. Hence the stomping.

It's also an incredibly undignified and anti-climatic way to go. Which is exactly what he deserves.

Edit:

Honestly, the idea that someone like Philip could be convinced to see the truth somehow seems pretty unrealistic. It's nigh impossible to convince people to change a worldview they've committed so much of their life and identity towards. All too often they die wholly convinced they were right no matter how wrong they were or how much misery said worldviews inflicted on their own lives.

I would say Philip wanted to stay alive above all, being killed by witches probably just made his death even more agonizing then if he were killed by the rain. He died in a panic as he was pathetically stomped to death.

And like I said, the fact he died like that instead of in the epic final confrontation is icing on the cake.

[up][up][up]Its also worth noting that its implied his beliefs were already not wholly sincere. Its directly stated that Belos' intentions were not genuine and all he really cared about was being the hero in his own delusion.

Yep. His Glory Hound nature and desire to be the big hero is what makes his ignoble pathetic end — being stomped to death like a bug by people he considered beneath him — both ironic and richly deserved.

It'd be even better if he ended up a footnote in the Boiling Isle's history, save as a cautionary tale.

I would hope the opposite. As I feel like being remembered as a villain would already sting. And the primary people who remember him being witches would sting like hellfire.

It depends on whether you think infamy or being forgotten is worse. I myself have wondered if it's worse to be remembered in a way I'd hate or be forgotten entirely.

The ideal legacy for Philip is to be a cautionary footnote. Remembered only as a warning against tyrants and nothing more. The Boiling Isles otherwise have more important shit to think about. Like, anything else.

It would be hard, however, to forget the man who lied to them for decades, turned their society into a survival of the nastiest, and nearly destroyed them all twice.

So when King reaches a certain age, I wonder if Luz would think to declare him a Teen Titan😁.

Maybe play the 2003 theme.

[up][up]And hopefully Luz and company takes that info to heart.

So I joked about Hunter being the one to initiate this song among the Hexside Squad first over Luz:

Count on Friends from Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur S2 Episode 3 Belly of the Beast.

But yeah, I see the whole squad, King and Vee included singing. Also for fun, maybe Katya, Amber and Derwin.

I don't know, would Raine probably enjoy any of the M Ga DD songs? Or at least join in the sing along to tease Eda?

First uses of that song in show though:

Modified both accordingly.

But yeah even if Raine wouldn't care for those songs, they'd still join in the Count on Friends bit just to tease their gal.🤣

Luz would definitely be into that schmaltz… not sure about the rest of the Hexsquad.

Who do we see liking what genre of music? Who’s more likely to be a Swiftie or member of the Bey-hive?

Not sure. Just that at least I think Count on Friend would appeal to them. Hard to say cause King at least enjoys being read the Good Witch Azura books and Skala (friends with Willow, Gus and Hunter) definitely goes with the Magic of Friendship.😁

Plus as I mentioned the first time, I just like the idea of Eda figuring Luz starts such a sing along only to see Hunter being the guilty party.😄

First off, you don't need to walk away from Belos as he dies. Just watch him closely wither away and turn to dust. Dorothy didn't need to stomp on the Wicked Witch of the West as she was melting.

And it's not about making him see the light of day. It simply denying him the fuel he needs to keep on persisting forward. Give him no targets and see how desperate he'll go to feed. The thing I find fascinating is that even after he curses Luz that she'll be evil as "the witches", he still clings on to the hope that she would see reason and save him above all else.

And I say, let him try to reach that impossible goal as he dies. Don't show him witches or demons ready to stomp on him. Let the last thing he sees be what he considers to be human looking down on him and saying nothing. Let his last thoughts be not of hatred, but of despair.

Despair is the most punishing thing that I could think of inflicting on Belos. Even the worst fanatics fall into despair when they realize that reality itself has turned against them and they can't figure out why due to their refusal to accept they are wrong.

Why do you think he died without despair? Being stomped like a bug would probably lead to despair.

You just want the death to have more DRAMA, as opposed to the black comedy of being squished underfoot.

It’s a very indignant death. And that can be just as bad as a despairful death. It’s just that the latter can be more desired if the villain is a smug bastard who got away with so much hurt and cruelty.
