Dunno how no one's made one of these yet, but here we are.

I guess to get the ball rolling, here's the first Voltron fic I've written. It's here aaaaand here.

My various fanfics.

I've wanted to see if there were fics to recommend but nearly all them are yaoi romances or coffee shop AU's rather than anything that really interest me involving the main series. There are so many little plot bunnies from older shows that could be used, everything from the other races they've run into, to Vehicle Voltron. There is one Vehicle Voltron fic I've seen for LD, and I wrote it!

Not to mention all the descriptions telling me Klance is canon. Yeah, good way to turn people off from the actual show.

Don't know what to make of that, as I've only seen the first episode so far (and even that's thanks to FlamingShark having just started a let's watch of it and me having clicked on the video due to suffering from mecha withdrawal).

But if there's anything I've learned over the years, is that the great majority of yaoi pairings are totally unsubstantiated. That's the case here too, isn't it?

Eh, there's enough there for people to see it.

[up][up]Completely so.

Look, if you like it that should be fine (my issues with Klance fandom aside) but it feels like a lot of interesting ideas are ignored.

Also if you want mecha you’re better off waiting for Darling in the Franxx. VLD takes pride in how little the robot is used.

Eh. If there's one gripe I have had so far of the show, it's that the heroes accept their role faaaar too quickly and easily. Granted, it might be just me being used to Gundam and Evangelion where the protags spend a good dozen or so episodes griping about the unwanted responsibility before giving in, but still.

Not outright refusal, more like "how is any of this my problem? you treat me as if I'm some kind of big hero but I never asked for any of this, damn it!" transitioning into "ah, whatever; the bad guys ain't gonna leave me alone anyway now that I ripped them a new one, might as well see this through".

Also, whoever got the idea of using telephone metaphors in the context of adventure tropes should be whipped for being an idiot.

[up]Destiny is on the line. Will you accept the charges?

You see what I mean though about legitimately interesting plot bunnies being ignored for semi-racist domestic romances and coffee shop AU’s? What drives someone to jump at the opportunity and another to leave it behind? Do they think they’ll ever see their families again? Is the risk even in their minds?

Not to mention all the giant robot stuff that could be written, all ignored.

Anyway, who has some recommendations?

Do not overestimate fanfiction readers. Less than a week ago, I've seen a Mass Effect author gripe about one of his reviewers complaining that he shouldn't put tech in his story because nobody gives a shit about it.

Yes, you heard that right: a reader taking issue with Mass Effect having sci-fi in it.

How badly can one miss the point?
