Opened. This is JABAAC; pull regardless of replacement.
First panel, though it's a subversion

The current is at least a picture of a magpie, which not everyone might be familiar with.
Edited for clarification.

Check out my fanfiction! That's not a picture of a magpie. The bird lacks the white parts and significantly longer tail that set it apart from crows / ravens / rooks. And the dialogue itself confirms it's a raven.
For the record, this is the bird we're looking for: (the Eurasian one, not the Australian—the superstition this trope is, comes from the British isles) [1]

I wonder if there is any likelihood of getting permission for this
This signature says something else when you aren't looking at it.That looks good. But yes, we'd have to get permission.
I got a chuckle out of that, so pending other ideas I’m good to seek permission for it.

I too agree.
Look at all that shiny stuff ain't they prettyI've e-mailed the artist; hopefully she gets back to me soon.
I haven't heard anything from the artist yet and am not sure that I will...going ahead and clocking the thread.
EDIT: I tweeted the artist and the comic's host page...maybe that will work better.

The artist gave us permission, so we’re good to go.
EDIT: The new pic's up and tagged. Actual caption?
Old pic:

With the text in it, it doesn't need a caption.
Check out my fanfiction!No caption.
(Annoyed grunt)The text in the image is enough
This signature says something else when you aren't looking at it.I'm good with no caption as well. Locking up.
Well, "just an avian and a caption" in this case, but the point is: shows a magpie but not the "omen"/"creepy" part they tend to be portrayed as.
I don't have a specific better suggestion but hope somebody has. It must be pretty specific though, because this must not be confused with Thieving Magpie, in which they're portrayed as thieves rather than bad omens, and also it's specifically about magpies, not members of the crow family in general.
