Suggestion: Taking Up The Mantle

A few problems with the current image: 1. It's small, so it can be mistaken for a side-by-side comparison of two different people. (At the very least, a quality upgrade◊ with alternative cropping will make the fact that they're the same guy more obvious.)

2. The fact that Batman was incapacitated before Dick took up the cowl (a requirement for the trope) isn't made apparent.

Here are a couple of suggestions:

Wally West --> the Flash◊ (last three panels)

Laura Kinney --> Wolverine◊ (second panel)

I like the second suggestion, partly for conciseness and partly because it's more compact than the first one.

I'll go with the second, too.

I also prefer the first because the second one doesn't make the point #2 mentioned in the OP that clear either.

Her first speech bubble makes things perfectly clear, at least to my reading.
