Sorry, but the upgraded Kuschperchan knights look like they were put in giant barrels. Oh well, as long as it works.

In a surprise twist it's Chid who saves the Princess. Didin't see that coming.

Ernesti already figured out an anti-air weapon. The bad guys never stood a chance.

I like how Ernesti things of every problem like it was a mecha related on.

Edgar and Helvi sure are close.

And that in the end they just shoved the entire thing on Chid.

The citizens have the royal family portraits even in the shops. That's some high as hell approval rating. It's like literally one step below wearing T-shirts with the portrait.

Well, I guess trying the same trick twice was pretty stupid. Didn't expect mecha keys it seems.

Wow, Kerhild went down easily and without much fanfare.

By the end of the episode the Princess seems like a bit less of a wet blanket so that's something.

Re: novel tidbits Eru really is a topnotch trap. And WTH Addy.

Did she at least wear a mecha-styled pajamas? I doubt Eru would've let her do that otherwise.

I musn't have phrased it clearly. This isn't something that Addy's doing while Eru's asleep, it's something she's doing while he's awake. And without benefit of mecha-pajamas no less.

This is so far my favorite episodes, meeting another mad scientist like Eru and the two meeting was fun. It obvious that the war is going to come down to age old question who would win, air battleships vs magic mechas.

Chid being a knight to the princess could have sweet moments during the war. This would be a good storyline if Chid and the princess have feeling for each other or Chid staying as her knight and Chid family status would come into play. Sadly I don't see that happening now or maybe season two as a b plot.

So the title of the opening theme song is "Hello!My World!!" That was a pretty clever reference to the "Hello World" tutorials (though it was already obvious in the official music video).

So new episode is out.

And this is past going past where I've read in the novels. Not sure if it's anime original or just adapting stuff further than the translation I've read has gotten up to (the translator has mentioned that they don't have sources for the later stuff).

So one thing I will say that is disappointing. Since they're condensing down the stuff about upgrading the Kuscperchan forces one of the things that got cut was the Boss's customer Gear, a four armed Silhouette Gear specifically designed for a Knightsmith. It would have been cool to see it in action, even if only briefly.

Gah, I want to see that four-armed Gear too!

Oratio Gojass is a cool villain. The dragon-mech, obviously, but he also had the guile to use Cristobal as a decoy. Etherite is also one heck of an invention.

Kidd should just give up and get together with Eleanora already. Look at Ernesti, he's constantly after his true love. And someone give the Boss some cake.

I have to agree that Oratio Gojass is a very good villain, he is very entertaining to watch. I did find his new mecha a little familiar◊.

I did like that the anti-air weapons looked like rocket propelled lances, it fits the setting nicely.

From the novels: They're the remenant of larger Empire that once existed so they may be calling themselves an Empire where as far as everyone else is concerned they're just another Kingdom

Grain of salt: The translation I read was not perfect as was not working directly from Japanese sources, it was second hand via Chinese or Korean.

Episode 12:

So the battle with the Mecha Dragon actually ended up in a tie. The rival scientist might be a loon, but he knows his stuff.

I really like how much the Princess has grown since her introduction. Attacking the enemy instead of defending is a pretty ballsy move. Also I like her Knight.

I love how Ernesti motivation is to rip out the rival weapon development tree in the bud. That's so him.

Ernesti is also a loon. So... yeah.

Just incredible that Ernesti's primary motivator for taking down the drake-bot is so that giant mecha won't get phased out in favor of battleships and the like. We've said it before, but this guy has got his priorities straight.

Well, by now it should be pretty obvious that Ernesti is not really a moral person. He isn't a bad guy, but he cares precisely nothing about good and evil. If we were to give him a Character Alignment based on the D&D / Pathfinder system, he'd probably be True Neutral.

With that said, if I were a Mook in this war, I wouldn't exactly be thrilled that it all comes down to a pissing consent between two mad geniuses.

Something about that kid's obsession with mecha worries me what he might do after the war is over and there's no more conflict at all for him to enjoy using his mecha in.

There would still be hulking monsters to pummel and make robots out of.

Yep. The world (thankfully) has a built in relief valve for Ernesti's mecha-otaku-ism.

Good thing he's not a biologist, I would worry if he would eventually get bored of fighting monsters and decide to bio-engineer one to be a challenge to him.

Or more plausibly sell tech to enemy nations and watch the fireworks. Of course, we're flanderizing his mecha geek-ness here.

You guys must be jesting. Ernesti is perfectly amiabiacle young man... he's just very serious about his hobbies.

Wouldn't it be funny if Eru leaked info about his Silhouette Knights to the Zaloudek Empire early in the series just so they could steal them, make their own modifications, and then use them against Eru's own mecha?

Well, it has ended, but with a possibility of a second season on airships and mecha (which owuld be the Light Novels 6 thru 8)

Well, that was fun. Bit too power-fantasy-ish at times, but enjoyable and avoided some of the worst aspects of it's genre (no harem!). Would recommend to mecha fans
