Awesome episode, the great battle has begun! Lots of simultaneous plot threads going on, Vlad vs Karna, Achiless vs Chiron, Spartacus getting released. Jeane, Sieg wanting to free the other homunculi, and there's still more to come with Mo-san about to enter the fray.
Say what you will, but the battles look great. I love Vlad vs Karna, with the spikes sprouting from everywhere.
On another note, I have to ask, what is wrong with Astolfo's mouth?
Astolfo had a protuding fang in his design and the animators decided that was made of skin.
EDIT: I checked the novel illustration and it's made of skin there as well.

That's what that is? A fang?
Holy shit it actually has name. I just thought they wanted to give him a quirky smile & never went beyond the look.
"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."Random thoughts on episode 8:
- The priest whose name I forget can apparently see the same visions that Jeanne does? And he has a katana that's on par with a Servant's NP. He's definitely the final boss.
- The battle of the two Lancers was pretty sweet. Vlad doesn't even care that his opponent is a god, because he'd have to kill him anyway since the Holy Grail... is at stake.
- Achilles vs Chiron was also pretty good. I'm generally just glad to see lots of spear-twirling action. Media needs more spear-fu.
- Sieg is now a homunculus messiah gathering disciples for his revolution.
- Mordred and Sisigo are still the best part of the show. Dat Riding skill.
- Uh-oh, the cranky chick runs into the final boss. Ah, well, she was originally a corpse anyway.
Kimidori: Yes, Chiron smashed Mordred to the ground and stunned her, but he wouldn't have been able to get that attack off without taking a hit from her. The amount of time she was on the ground wasn't enough to finish her, so she'd have just gotten up and killed him if he'd tried it.
Slim: Yeah, he has a hippogryph for a mount. It's got some interesting abilities, as he alluded to.
fillerdude: Karna is a demigod, not a god.
Also, pretty sure Shirou's sword is just a sword. It just means it won't break if he tries to fight someone.
No, if not for Chiron's slashed shoulder, Mondred would have been dead right there, he couldn't use his bow anymore so he had to retreat.
"Hitting the deadly weapon known as the ground, Saber’s eyes widened as she experienced an impact that seemed to make her very guts reverberate. Her entire body froze for just a few seconds as if she was tied down with chains. It was an extremely lethal situation for her—however, despite the fact that Saber had fallen down, Archer didn’t finish her off; instead, he fell down to his knees in anguish. The wound from the blade that had bit into his shoulder, even if it wasn’t a fatal wound, was extremely close to being so.
Normally, there was no strength behind the part of the blade close to the handle, so Archer had judged that it would probably only be strong enough to cut his leather armor. But he had underestimated it too much. In spite of receiving Saber’s strike under most likely the very best of conditions possible, the wound on his collarbone was too deep.
Most likely, his right shoulder wouldn’t move until it was mended with healing magecraft. In other words, he couldn’t use his bow until then. Archer smiled bitterly. He had intended to corner her, but he ended up being cornered instead. The decisive chance he had received in return had been reversed into a fatal situation for him.
He came to a decision without hesitation. He could not think of a way to deliver a final blow to Saber in this situation no matter how he moved or fought. If he effectively used the slightly less than three seconds it would take until Saber got back up, withdrawal was probably the best plan here."

You do know that the quote you just offered supports my position, right? If anything, I would criticize that the slash to Chiron's shoulder didn't visibly affect him enough. It made it unclear as to why he would retreat when she's the one on the ground.
Chiron lost that fight and simply managed to escape while his opponent was recovering.
The slash lacked impact, it felt off.
Should have put more emphasis on it, make it more brutal.
"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."My point is that if he didn't lose the use of his bow, Mordred would been dead, but yes, he made a miscalculations that made him unable to use it so in the end it's his fault that he lost the fight.
I'm still pissed that the arrow that Chiron shoot as he fall from the tower, the arrow that "clad in the light of the stars, forcibly smashed through Saber of Red's armor" got changed to a multi shot, not to mention all the shafts Atalanta have got in this adaption, not only all her display of power so far got downplayed heavily, her characterizations and interaction with other servants in the Hanging Garden just before the fight in this episode got cut as well. I now have no hope for any of her future badass moments in the LN to stay badass if this is how they've been adapting Apocrypha so far, I bet they will find new way to downplay her again.

I'm not sure how you were disagreeing with me then. Mordred overpowered Chiron, he judged he would need to take a hit to beat her and misjudged how much damage he'd take from doing so.
Anyone else laugh whenever Fran growls.
It sounds so goofy because she sounds so unmenacing, its like a Chihuahua growling or just a harmless animal trying too hard.
Huh I think they should have added a voice distortion or something.

"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."I heard her original GO voice samples were infamous
Lancelots mooing is even worse in GO
Fran's shrieking in GO used to really bother people, yeah. It's likely that's why it's not that pronounced here.
Saying that Chiron could've won if he didn't receive the arm injury is kinda meaningless, since he only managed to execute his attack by taking the hit. He simply underestimated just how hard Mordred hits.
Yes, not just that, considering that Chiron injury was described as "extremely close to lethal'' he is one getting lucky here. One millimeter deeper and we wouldn't even need discuss it.

Instead we would be talking about how Archer was a total idiot for trying to fight a Saber with bare hands and got cut down for his trouble. It would be a funny albeit anticlimactic end of his story.
Oh yeah I wouldn't want to come near her unless I have some doggy treats on hand.
Also I just thought of this but holy crap she sounds like my 5-year old cousin. She growls the same as Fran when angry so wow that is pretty damn funny, hahaha.
"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."She's also wielding a gigantic mace that can smash a golem.
Episode:
Wow, Darnik sure is confident.
Also seeing Zouken like that warms my heart.
Lots of awesome action this episode, hard to choose my favorite moment, between Semiramis shooting Astolfo out of the sky, Atalanta Noble Phantasm, Jeanne no selling Semiramis magic, Mordred just making Astolfo fly... Seriously, lots of cool moments.
Holy shit, that whole Frankenstein sequence. Poor girl, she had to endure so much. Fucking Victor Frankenstein man.
Sieg storyline is finally becoming sort of engaging.
Pfft, Mo-tan arriving at the scene was hilarious. And when she just stood there just examining Astolfo. All that was missing was if she started to poke him with a stick.
Really, really good episode. Might be my favorite so far.

Semiramis, not Seramis.
That's way too many m's for my taste.

Every accusation by the GOP is ALWAYS a confession.Spartacus in eighth place was the best.
There was also the giant Astolfo tamed and he should have a Flaming Chariot that can fly to the moon that he got to used, considering how tenuous the rules are about who can be Riders and two lesbian pirates who never even own ships count. Or Medusa having a Pegasus.
