I we really do get Saiyaman as DLC, I really hope one of his supers would be based off of this. It's probably too much to hope for it being a LVL 3, but given that a ton of characters - including Adult Gohan - already have a Super Kamehameha Great Saiyaman Beam as a LVL 3, I suppose it doesn't hurt to dream.
Though if they end up pulling from the movies (unlikely, I know), they could also give him a suped-up version of this.

"The difference between reality and fiction is that fiction has to make sense." - Tom Clancy, paraphrasing Mark Twain.Saiyaman would be neat, though 3 Gohans would be the most variations of one character in the roster (no, Goku Black does not count as a Goku variation).
Is Hit classified as a villain in the scans?
The DBFZ pages on TV Tropes puts him there which I suppose is understandable when Hit was an antagonist in his debut.
That's very eloquently put, but that doesn't answer my question.

I mean, he's brutally efficient and dedicated to his job of killing people, but assassinating doesn't seem to illicit much of an emotional response one way or another. Until Goku fought him, he was just coldly going through the motions of his job, which makes sense. The man is over 1,000 years old and he's never met anyone in his life who pushed him as hard as Goku has. Seems like Goku's fight with him awakened a love for the thrill of combat that he didn't know he had, and pushed him to self-improve for the first time in what must be centuries.
Hit's not a bad guy, he's willing to kill whomever, long as he's paid. In terms of alignment, Hit would qualify as True Neutral. He has no interest in the law, hurting others for no reason, or fighting for good or evil. He's an antagonist, certainly, but that changes from arc to arc and only as much as any of Goku's rivals are antagonists.
From a fighting game standpoint Saiyaman would only make two variations on the same character, as regular Gohan has an entirely different design.
"The difference between reality and fiction is that fiction has to make sense." - Tom Clancy, paraphrasing Mark Twain.Goku Black definitely counts as a Goku variant going purely by design.
But he was talking about gameplay, so design is kind of irrelevant here.
A lazy millennial who's good at what he does. He's not a goku variant as that would require similiair fighting style and design, and gameplay and fighting style wise, the two are as different as you get. Like I dont rember goku being able to clone himself and create energy blades and scythes.

"That's right mortal. By channeling my divine rage into power, I have forged a new instrument in which to destroy you."Why the heck does design matter? Bardock and Turles are Goku variants then.

This song needs more love.Because they're recycling the same character model at least twice and just giving it a different moveset.
The two Gohans and Buus at least have different models, so you're getting more variety for their being in the game.
Variant in fighting games means Moveset Clone in some way, which Goku Black certainly isn't.
For Those who Seek the Thrill of Death: A Dramatic SMT3 Hard PlaythroughAnd once again, that's irrelevant. If you care about that, fine. But almost anybody interested in the game already knows Black will play vastly different, and is thus an entirely different character.
Hell, he's not even Goku in-universe. So no, they're not the same simply because they share aesthetic similarities. Characters are a bit more than their aesthetic in these types of games. :V

A lazy millennial who's good at what he does.I shouldn't have said that Super Saiyan 2 kid Gohan would be a variation of Ultimate Gohan and Great Saiyaman. While they are literally the same person (which is all I meant), I forgot that variation is actually a fighting game term, similar to semi-clone.

An example then would be the premiere skin characters from Injustice.
Completely different characters but they play the exact same to other characters.
"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."I will find it funny that the defining reason why Goku Black was even called Black can be changed once we see Black's alt. colors.
Hope they don't cheap out on that and have some black be on every color he has.
I’d love it if Black had a Goku coloration and Goku had a Black coloration.
"The difference between reality and fiction is that fiction has to make sense." - Tom Clancy, paraphrasing Mark Twain.Yes we need this. Goku Black variant Goku Vs. Normal Goku variant Goku Black.
"That's right mortal. By channeling my divine rage into power, I have forged a new instrument in which to destroy you."Ginyu using Goku's model vs Goku using Ginyu's model.
I have a message from another time...And then they body switch, and nobody has any idea what's going on.
If there are alternate costumes (a toss up, as in this game they would likely take a lot of work), they really should give Goku "Ginyu Wearing Goku's Clothes" and "Zamasu wearing Goku's clothes" as alts. Or maybe "Zamasu wearing Goku's Clothes" could be a Black alt.

"The difference between reality and fiction is that fiction has to make sense." - Tom Clancy, paraphrasing Mark Twain.I mean....
I want Ginyu in Black vs Ginyu in Goku, dammit!
Mega Man fanatic extraordinaireOn a different note, I'm curious if they'll answer why 18 has her own dedicated path along with Goku and Freeza. I know one reason why since the story mode is about androids, but it's still surprising to me and want to know if there's a few others as well.
I do like the decision though.

Well, it's not just 18. Unless they can remove 17 from her moveset to handicap her, her story mode is going to be entirely her plus her brother.
They've done similar things to that in the past: the robot girl in Persona 4 Arena has her Persona sealed away for plot reasons in her story mode. Disabling her 17 summons and/or her level 3 wouldn't be too hard.

I haven't once said in this conversation that the minor Tournament of Power characters are super important or anything, just that almost all of them have unique gimmicks, which makes them more unique fighters than most characters in the original series.
I fail to see how caring to remember as many of the minor characters in Dragon Ball as I can is some kind of failing on my part, especially when I'm constantly working on and updating my chart to plot out my Dragon Ball movies with all the minor characters included. If you can't remember a certain character I mention, fuckin' Google them instead of complaining that I care too much.
