A character has been trapped in a prison for many, many years, kept away from a world that was long gone, but alas! They make an escape and they see a commercial airplane soaring through the sky, indicating that there is a modern civilasation. I keep seeing this "Airplane indicates modern society" trope popping up now and then, but I only have a handful of shitty examples, does anyone have more, or is there already a page for this? Examples: pastebin com/jry1GApv this short story in which the Engineer belives that the world was destroyed in a nuclear war, when in fact he gets out of the prison he was held in and sees an airliner flying across the sky, as well as a Coca-cola billboard. From the 2002 revival of the Twilight Zone, in the episode "It's still a good life" when only anthony and his daughter are left in peaksville, anthony sees a modern aircraft soaring through the sky, meaning that his daughter brought back the rest of the world

In the flash game 400 years the statue you play as jumps down in a volcano to stop a catastrophe from occuring, and after "waiting" for a very long time, you see an airliner flying in the sky, meaning that the humans you helped out in the begenning have now developed into something more advanced.
