Hope for Tomorrow: The Roleplay

DORM ROOM 202

Laz walked into the dorm room, looking around with a mix of fear an apprehension. Hey, a voice in the back of his head said, just like college.

Laz dropped his knapsack on the bed he wanted and sat on it for a moment. He took out his quill/pen/whatever-it-was called. He didn't belong here, and he wanted to find out just why he had been sent a letter or how they found him.

He set off to find a teacher that could help him, hopefully Wrath himself.

KEU Lake

Bas turned his head around in surprise, thinking he was alone.

"Oh hey Kim, thank you, seems like I haven't gone rusty with this thing yet"

As she sat down close he moved a bit to the opposite side to give her space before sitting down himself. Basilio blinked when he heard her question, having to remember all that's happened to him since high school, he spoke in a tone that was barely noticeably more glum than his casual friendly voice.

"I didn't have much of a chance, our band had a hard time even getting to the point of releasing music, we just sorta messed around as a high school band first. Then when we finished that part two of our members left. Looking for replacements wasn't easy and the other band members had arguements with one another, just a lot of bad things. Finally, our debut album came out when I was about 20, and it was actually becoming pretty popular in New York. A year after that I turned into this" Basil pointed at his own chest and horns, he continued to speak in a tone that was only very slightly more glum than his casual friendly voice. "And I had to leave the band, didn't hear anything from them since" Basilio sighed and turned his head to look at the lake before turning it back towards Kimmy.

"Why do you ask? Do I really look like I should be a superstar?" Bas said before cracking a smile. It was obvious that even if he was sad about how his past turned out, he has moved on completely.

Sept. 1, 2115, 8 or so in the morning, KEU Dorms, Dining Area

Bayard coughed, rolling out of the suitcase and looking fairly embarrassed. He looked sheepishly at the room, maybe at Christopher. Maybe at Soma, who freed him, "That... That never happened before. And not 'cause I've never done that in front of people."

So with little else to do and with his intended audience, he began to repack his suitcase, intending to head for his assigned dorm room.

"Still a pretty neat trick, don't think my joints would move like that even if I didn't have a few extra" Soma said in amusement "Guess I'd better see about getting my stuff unpacked though, see ya"

With that Soma headed to his room and took a look around, since there wasn't anyone else there he set his duffel bag on the bottom bunk figuring they could sort out the beds for real later tonight before heading off to the gate to see who was there already

Room 304

Eventually, the door would open and in would enter Camellia. Whether or not Serena came along would be up to the other girl. "Ah, Velita, yes?" She asked as she looked over the other girl. "I am Camellia, it is good to meet you."

"Ummm....." Suzu kind flattened her ears a bit when the beds were claimed, while both of them had good reasons for the choices they did, she couldn't exactly say she was all that happy with the top bunk, especially not in the presence of some one so camera happy and encouraging of casual changing.... with a shake of her head however she tried to distract herself from this, after all she already knew who to blame for any improper photos. "The rooms are a little.... sparse, we should probaly pick up supplies to make it look nicer too... I can bring susanoo for lifting, but does any one know the current exange rate?"

KEU Dorms - Dining Room.

Christopher kept up the polite, if uneasy smile. Although the fact he was looking a little pale meant he wasn't quite good at masking his discomfort at the show.

"As they say, there's always a first time for, well, everything. An unexpected twist to a performance is never a bad thing...provided it's not...too dangerous and it's reassuring to see you're alright, er...I didn't quite catch your name..."

Room 304

Velita hops up, dropping the marbles as she does so. "O-Oh! Nice t' meet you to!"

"Pretty sure modern dollars and yen are roughly equal, give or take a couple cents." Cassie said. "And if you come up short, I can probably spot you. Susanoo would be good to have onsite for carrying though, definitely. I'm surprised you don't need a license for that or anything. Be useful to carry furniture especially, I was thinking we could pick up some lamps to replace this shitty overhead light and some nice chairs to replace the ones we're given. Anything else, or are we good to go?"

After having laid down for a moment Martin realized something essential, he wasn't actually tired. He could sit around and chat with his roommates, but it might be a better use of his time to actually explore the academy that would either make or break his career. So after a quick goodbye to his roommates he stepped out of the room and began to roam the halls, only to run into a fellow classmate who was also exiting their own room.

"Greetings!" he called out toward Laz, walking over toward the young man with a bright smile on his face. "Would you care to join me for a bit of exploration?"

Laz and Martin

Laz jumped slightly, turning to see Martin. "Oh, Superhero. What's up?" He asked, walking over. "Saw you in the lunchroom."

He cracked his neck and looked at Martin, looking him up and down.

"Please just Martin," it wasn't that he minded the nickname even if it was sarcastic, but hearing it all the time would make him grow a big head. "And yeah that was a bit... it got a bit rough so I apologize if you got caught up in all the yelling."

Hallway

Laz shook his head. "Marty, calm down. Alright? You sent a powerful message and I agree with you." Laz lit up a cigarette, blowing it into the air before looking at Martin. "You also didn't make an asa out of yourself like Hwrbert did, good on ya."

KEU Lake

Kim listened to Bas's story intently. No one could ever say she wasn't a good listener. It helped that this guy actually seemed really cool, and Kim was interested in his life. It must have been crazy obviously, being a bull man. Kim can't imagine the set backs when she already stresses over the burdens of being black and a woman. Would being publicly Gifted change her life that much?

"Sounds like you've had some setbacks, but you've had some success too! You absolutely can't quit for anything!"

She flashed a smile. "And are you kiddin me? Bro, look at you. You are a rocker. Who the fuck wouldn't be into you?!"

He winced at the crass language at the cigarette. "You know those things are really bad for you right?" it wasn't that Martin didn't have his own vices, but heroes and smoking really shouldn't go together. Well fire themed superheroes were acceptable in that regard, but it was like comparing apples to cigarettes. "Not that I'm judging, but I also think the hallways are a nonsmoking section and I really would hate to get the entire section flooded."

HALLWAY

"This? Nah man, this is the good shit-all the taste and none of that nicotine bullshit." Laz said with a smile, "It doesn't even smell!" He laughed before cracking his knuckles. "Do you know where I can find wrath?"

That was good at least, still not a good habit for kids to see from a hero, but they were off camera for all intents and purposes and he had learned that forcing his ideals onto people was likely to result in more arguments then constructive work. "No, but I imagine that he is probably somewhere out of reach. Maybe it would be a good idea to talk to our teacher if you want to find the Headmaster."

KEU Dorms: Room 304

Serena grunted a greeting at Velita, then wheeled herself to the single bed.

"Hi, other roomie, I'm Serena. Ree is fine too. And you don't mind me taking this bed, right?"

KEU Dorms Room 301

"Oh, um, i-in that case, nice to meet you. And, um, in any case, should we head on up to the room now?" Louisa said, smiling shyly at Cherry.

When the two finally entered their dorm room, Louisa would wave at Ann self conciously.

"So...umm...I guess we'll be staying in the same room? Um, d-do you have any preferences in beds or..."

New Hope City: Hope's Peak Central Mall, September 1, 2115, 9:30 AM

As luck would have it, the closest mall was just a quick 20 minute bus ride away from campus. And as it was Sunday, there wasn't much traffic anyway.

The Central Mall was a circular complex with an open air garden and public swimming pool in the middle, enclosed by the mall building itself. It stood only three storeys high, but extended over quite a large area.

The mall entrance was raised up, sloping steps leading into the building, pillars at both sides of the path.

Sleepy looking security guards dotted the pillars.

The mall opened at nine am, so there weren't very many people yet.

—Mall Entrance—

Alex whistled at the expansiveness of the mall.

Oh yeah. He was definitely finding parts here.

"Well, I've found my new home." he chuckled.

HALLWAY Laz shrugged, "I don't know," he clapped his hand. "Okay, you have no powers, you find this weirdass...mech suit. You work as a vigilante and a few weeks later? You get invited to a place for folks with super powers." He looked at Martin. "Any questions?"

"How come only bad guys get portal powers while the good guys always have to walk?" that was a lot to just throw at someone, not that he would have minded but it was a bit of a nonsequitur. "Regardless you are here for a reason, even if you can't hunt the mystery just work toward making the most out of what you gained I suppose."

"What, the staircase?" Soma commented at Alex with a good natured chuckle before pulling his phone out to check the time

"Come on, we've got eleven hours until curfew and I'm feeling a little tourist-y, let's see what we can find" he said to nobody in particular before he started up the stairs, feeling quite a bit more awake than the security looked after their busy morning.

—Mall—

Alex nodded, before following Soma.

He wondered what would be the best place to find electronics, before he spotted an electronics shop across the mall.

How convenient.

"Hey, Soma. Over here!"

He jogged over to the shop, and disappeared into the doors.

KEU Dorm room

Ann nodded for her spot on the bottom bunk. "This one is mine. I will shed on it if I have to, but please don't make me, it's kinda weird." She replied, pulling things out of her backpack in order to decorate the underside of the bunk.

Mall

Ann slowly sauntered up the steps of the mall, pulling up her bank's app in order to check her funds. "Good, that'll be plenty for a start of the year shopping spree." She said to herself softly.

KEU Dorm Room 302

Mariam laid the last of her blouses and dresses into neatly folded piles in the under-bed storage. She glanced around. She'd need something to chill drinks. She could already see the perfect floor space to put it. Her sponsor would allow it; that was one of the perks of having one. Mariam stood up, interlocking her fingers and stretching her arms outwards to crack her joints.

"Yes, I can think of one more thing for Susanoo to carry," Mariam said. Fire blazed in her eyes. "I'm gonna get me a mini fridge."

Mariam grabbed her phone, a pair of sunglasses, and her shoulder bag.

"Cassie, Suzu? If you don't mind me calling you that. Let's beat the rush hour."

Hope's Peak Central Mall

One short bus ride with her phone and one ear of her music to keep her occupied later, Mariam dropped off at Hope's Peak Central Mall. This place, like lots of Hope's Peak, was new to her, but it wasn't even the largest mall she'd visited in NHC. A place so close to KEU had to have something to see. Clothes. Appliances. Hero merchandise.

"We're in luck," she said. "There's hardly anyone around."
