Does Prey 2017 even count as a Continuity Reboot?

Alright so for those that don't know, there was a 2006 game named Prey 2006 developed by Human Head. So the rights to Prey ended up going to Bethesda Softworks after Human Head started worked on a sequel to it, which Bethesda was to publish. That game ended up being canceled, and Bethesda kept the IP.

So after this, Arkane, the developers of Dishonored who are owned by Bethesda, started work a new sci-fi shooter that's basically their take on System Shock. For whatever reason, some marketing person at Bethesda was like "yo, that new System Shock looking game you're making? Yeah, call it Prey cause we own this name and it fits the concept", and Arkane said "sure whatever"

So basically, does Prey 2017 even count as a Continuity Reboot designer Ricardo Bare has straight up said in interviews that it's a totally separate game that just has the same name because the publisher owned the trademark and felt it was a good fit? Hell, does it even fall under In Name Only? Most examples of In Name Only try to have trace elements of the original and at least pretend it's supposed to be the same franchise, whereas Arkane openly admits their game is called Prey because Bethesda owns the name Prey because they own the rights to another old game called Prey that they're not gonna do anything with for whatever reason.

In Name Only is for derivative works of some kind. Do they even pretend it's the same franchise?

It is a 're-imagining' of Prey and supposedly uses no assets from the cancelled Prey 2.

They have also said it is a Spiritual Successor to System Shock.

So yeah all of the above.

Then I'd say the glove fits.
