Also bazooka round just flew UP away from the building being shot at?

Rocket launchers in COD games (the ones without lock on anyways) have always since Call of Duty 4 Modern Warfare had a spirally, erratic flight pattern that follows neither real world ballistics, nor the wind.

At least in the hands of players...

Early, early COD games like Big Red One had their bazookas fly straight as expected.

I want to know what possessed the developers to implement it like that. Were they watching NASA launch at the moment and thought Rocket = go high up up?

They probably just didn't want a longer-ranged direct-firing noob tube, but didn't also want to do something even stupider like watching an RPG explode onto you and not kill you.

@SgtRicko: That, basically. Even 75mm would have NO problem cleaving through the most Pz4's frontal armor (not 100% sure about JPz4 though), ESPECIALLY at 10m range that happens in the game. Hell, 76mm AP or APCBC would cleave through Tiger I's frontal armor (that's not through the mantlet) at that range! Tiger II...yeah, you probably need APCR.

^^^ I know, it's why I'm so exasperated. Although the one I specifically mentioned on (Phly trying to shoot troops on high up building) seems more like the game doesn't allow the rocket to hit there and just adjust the rocket course mid-flight more than anything.

So how Historically accurate was the game? I noticed the D-Day level that there were some burning vehicles like tanks on the beach during the first landings. I was under the impression that vehicles arrive late due to bad weather and obstacles planted by the Germans.

It takes the usual liberties with how certain weapons act versus their actual behaviors. Stuff like SM Gs and shotguns being useless at range, Panzerfaust rockets becoming inaccurate within less than a block's distance, the Sherman being a bit too responsive and it's odd penetration issues as mentioned prior, amongst other details altered for balance purposes. The German Stuka fighter doing the dive-bombing run is firing way too quickly for the cannons it had historically equipped; the rate of fire should've been much less in exchange for a far nastier impact. Reason being is that those cannons were meant to take down enemy ground vehicles, including tanks. Oh, and the female soldiers appearing for both factions in multiplayer... yeah, that bit was weird. This was the one conflict/theatre where they could've thrown the "females aren't used as frontline troops" excuse with solid plausibility here, yet they chose to include them.

But when examining the nitty-gritty, I've heard folks point out minor little inaccuracies here and there. Stuff like the American troops involved in the Normandy landing had the wrong chest armor plating, certain gun mods being far more rare and difficult to find on, etc.

Really, the COD series is not a brand I'd suggest to seek out for exceptional historical accuracy and detail. Fun and theatrics clearly come first, and that's not exactly a bad thing.

I bet the next Call of Duty game after WWII will be set during World War I.

I'm not making any bets for the next COD setting, at the moment.

Right now the general opinion is beginning to greatly sour against COD WWII, if the videos being posted on Youtube mean anything. And that might influence Activision into choosing another conflict setting.
