The French resistance would be a cool concept for a game. A semi open world tactical shooter where you choose your fights carefully.
That would be awesome, though I think ending the game as a Werwolf operative would be.... controversial.
"Sandwiches are probably easier to fix than the actual problems" -HylarnI see the Flamethrower is as horrifying as ever.

Eating a Vanilluxe will give you frostbite.Hey, the British are playable!
I wonder if they're aiming to fill in spots that had been cut out of Call Of Duty World At War, namely a British campaign set in the western part of Germany that was meant to accompany the Soviet one in the east.
The appearance of the Type 100 also implicates the Japanese as returning, while the British troops are wearing their khaki tropical uniforms instead of the brown temperate ones used in the European theatre.
Are we finally getting a first-person shooter depiction of the Burma campaign?

That story trailer is amazing, it looks like COD WW 2's campaign and zombie modes are going to be great. I must say I'm pleasantly surprised, I expected far less from Call of Duty and Sledgehammer games.
"Sandwiches are probably easier to fix than the actual problems" -HylarnFor those interested, an open beta on Steam will be held from Sept. 29th to Oct 2nd.
I have no interest in this game and only watched that trailer because I was bored.
Oh right, why I bothered to post then - because I'm totally sure I heard the Riflemen squad from CoH2 at 0:26, that is all.
The campaign was very well done. Respectful and far more willing to face the worse parts of WWII without making them Gorn baits. It felt like a step in the right direction - away from the spectacle and more towards the classic Saving Private Ryan/Band of Brothers feels.
Otherwise, there's still the dumb enemies flood and waffling flammen is still as dumb as it was. Surprisingly, they took away the historically accurate overshield in lieu of First Aid Kits like the older games.
Interesting, I suppose that just shot up higher in my wishlist.
"Sandwiches are probably easier to fix than the actual problems" -HylarnToo bad the online servers aren't worth a shit right now.
Uhhhhh...did that Pz 4 just completely tank a 76mm shot and not hurt at all? Also bazooka round just flew UP away from the building being shot at?
That'...doesn't exactly look great. Wish there's a bit more authenticity. Especially when there's things like SVT-40 being in the middle of hotel full of Germans.
@pblades: From what I remember in the first game you don't have the portable medkit though. You have to find and use them on the spot.
Give me cute or give me...something?To be frank if you're playing Call of Duty for authenticity then you're going to have a bad time, before all else it's an arcade shooter.
"Sandwiches are probably easier to fix than the actual problems" -Hylarn^....I kinda remember COD 1 and 2 at least being more authentic than this though. At minimum the gun placements makes more sense.

Give me cute or give me...something?Decade old games aren't really good examples
"Sandwiches are probably easier to fix than the actual problems" -HylarnAre you surprised that a Panzer no-sold a Sherman hit? That's what they did.
Far more terrifying for me was shooting at that Panzer and watching the round bounce.
I think AP rounds from a Sherman 76mm should go through a PIV's frontal, actually.

I'm too swamped up with college to actually play console games such as this nowadays, but I still watch walkthroughs to know the story and all.
The story is ironically stellar, as it returns to the old vibe of A Space Marine Is You instead of the "save the world singular action hero!" that has now become infamous of the COD franchise. While there's plenty of talk between the characters about "liberating Paris" or "advancing the entire war effort" thanks to your actions, such talk is easily interpreted as simply being hyperbolic, and the fate of the world is never put in your hands as was in the Modern Warfare and Black Ops series.
I'm just bitterly disappointed that the writers chose to go with the tried-true-but-worn-out perspective of white American troops landing at D-Day, liberating Paris, and marching into Germany.
To me, the strained relationships between the officers and their enlisted men could have been made even more poignant if the US Army unit being followed was the 442nd Regimental Combat Team in Italy instead of the 1st Infantry Division in France and Belgium.
As You Know, the 442nd consisted of Japanese-American troops recruited straight out of the internment camps, but whom were commanded by white officers. During their exploits in northern Italy, the 442nd's men earned so many medals that they were dubbed "The Purple Heart Battalion".
While the Panzer IV was one of Germany's most well-rounded tanks, it was meant to fight against the earlier generations of tanks, not the designs that appeared during the last two years of WWII. It also depends on just how heavily upgraded it was: some versions of the Panzer IV had been considerably up-gunned and had enough firepower to penetrate the armor of some of Russia's later armored beasts.
Also it's armor was lacking in many spots. Those flat, boxy angles didn't do it much favors; only the turret and front had any reliable protection.
IIRC The French Resistance wasn't terribly relevant by itself, but in combination with others (could be wrong).
I always thought it would cool if you made a game with all the early paramilitary operators. SOE, OSS, Resistance, with a surprise twist at the end of the game with a hopeless mission as a Werwolf operative or Japanese guerilla fighters.
Not that it will ever happen.
