I've been directed to bring this here from ATT.

Is there a clear distinction between Stupidity Tropes and Contrived Stupidity Tropes?

I can see that Stupidity Tropes is saying that it's supposed to be for characters who are stupid, absent-minded or forgetful, and that Contrived Stupidity Tropes is for unrealistic plot-stupidity, but looking at the content of both lists, I don't think that distinction has been kept to. We've now got two indexes doing the same thing, but with Stupidity Tropes being more comprehensive. I think they're suffering from The Same, but More Specific decay, resulting in Stupidity Tropes having the content for both indices and Contrived Stupidity Tropes looking like an incomplete copy of Stupidity Tropes.

Am I missing something?

If my post doesn't mention a giant flying sperm whale with oversized teeth and lionfish fins for flippers, it just isn't worth reading.

Contrived Stupidity Tropes lists 83 tropes of which 70 are also featured on Stupidity Tropes. I don't see why this has to be two different pages.

Well, "stupidity that moves plots" are distinct from just "stupidity". Sadly, their tropes don't do it justice...

We don't need justice when we can forgive. We don't need tolerance when we can love.
