Game's really fun if you're in to mobage, and has some of the best art I've seen in any mobile game. Not to mention the music and characters are really good!
Are the characters in the anime the same ones as in the game?

Yes for the most part. The first episode was a recreation of the prologue for the game
Ah I see. I'm asking because those are not the characters I usually see when I stumble upon some Granblue Fantasy stuff on the internet. It's mostly some chick with horns. Maybe she'll show up later.

Not sure if I should be spoilering this, but it's cool to see Rosetta this early on, helping out from the side. Wonder if she was following Gran or just happened to notice him at that point.

Yeah, I got her pegged as a serious character, turns out I was wrong. She's pretty fun.
Yeah, I'm really enjoying this so far. Lyria getting her notebook was adorable; I'm glad they're fleshing out the world and showing what life is like in towns and so on in the Skydom. Can't wait to get to Valtz and see some dorafs.

Episode 4 thoughts: Young Rackam's adorable.
Cool to see just how exactly he failed in flying the Grandcypher and other details like him using cheap parts to repair the airship, a lot of the Adaptation Expansion fleshes out stuff that was lacking in the game or interesting details in general. It really helps distinguish the anime.
It's nice to see the job classes actually being a thing unlike the game where's it just the player and that weird granny.

I want to punch the little midget general in the face. He's like if the Emperor and Kefka from Final Fantasy VI had a kid and had Eric Cartman raise him, what a shit head.

Yeah, General Evil Hobbit is annoying as hell.
Rackam is pretty cool old guy. He's going to be a good addition to the party.
I got a feeling that Tiamat will turn out to be important. I wonder tho what kind of plan is it - attack the island with a giant monster while the girl who can pacify them is there.
This show ain't exactly subtle about their evil empire generals.
Wondering if Tiamat will become Lyria's "summon", so to speak.
Probably, this is a very "get the summons" kinda moment. I dunno how it works in the game tho.

Tiamat battle was fine, should've used more Tiamat Omega music/out of 10
Re: changes from the game, how they battle Tiamat and the eventual solution to beating her probably works better then the game's story would've. What I didn't like was how they changed the Sky Map piece acquirement and the exposition dump for it felt awkwardly timed, could've just had Katalina explain what it was on the ship when they got it.

Tiamat was awesome. Last episode I didn't realze she actually has a humanoid form... with three Dragon heads.

And they got a magic map as a reward. This really is an adaptation of a video game through and through.
It's a pretty good video game adaptation too, since they focus on delivering a coherent story instead of lifting everything wholesale from the game.

There's a blue haired Oni from the game that's the same species as the red head stoic girl from the empire. She gets drunk all the time and its hilarious.
Can't wait to see if she makes it into the anime.

A adaptation of a popular JRPG and my god, it shows. It has everything - a girl with mysterious power, a boy from the sticks that is suspiciously skilled with sword, a missing father, an evil empire which is evil, airships, even summons.
I really liked the first episode. It gives the feeling of an beginning of a grand adventure.
Now, if only the bad guy didn't have such an annoying voice...
