Hikaru's Kitchen
"YUP!" Inori said with a smile to Raquel. She picked up one of the sandwiches and started to chomp away at it.
...Hold on...no way. No way. It can't be, that's almost too smart.
"...Is it like that just so you can gain caloric content faster than you would if you eat the ingredients separately?" Wo asked Inori.
Inori just answered chirpy as usual and started eating her treat. Maybe she didn't know anything about cooking or what food should normally look like but dammit if it Raquel wasn't curious to see what this thing tasted like.
She grabbed one of the sandwiches, noticing just how flimsy its construction was. Any minute now, everything would fall apart so might as well get this over with quickly and bite into it. Raquel did so and felt how the flavor of the ingredients mixed into one another, which was... actually pretty good. This was far from a bad idea. It was actually quite ingenious.
Raquel was too shocked and it showed on her face as she kept tasting the food, almost finishing it already.
"Thanks internet!"
"We have airships," Sayaka piped up, "it's just most people fly in planes instead. I think they're faster, or at least cheaper."
She took note of Hikaru and co. rejoining the rest of their party, and watched with fascination at Inori's Pro Sandwich-Making Skills™. Mostly on account of how overly-elaborate the process was in this particular case, and the others' wonder at the sandwich itself.
Wo seemed to think the construction of such a food item was for the purpose of consuming the ingredients faster than one would if they were to eat them separately.
"Uh, not really, they just are. Though I guess if you want to look at them that way...hey! Save some for me!"
She snatched up one of the sandwiches and took a bite, eying how quickly Raquel was devouring her free sample and determined to have some for herself before she or any of the others who were unfamiliar with the concept could consume them all.
"So," she began, not yet biting into the sandwich again and with her mouth still full. The self-proclaimed Hero of Justice then gave the others a sly wink. "Anyone wanna race me?"
i guess you can watch me shitpost i guess"Um...." Hikaru started as the subject inexplicably turned to fascination over sandwiches, "...The appeal of a properly prepared sandwich is how the flavors of the various meats, cheeses, vegetables, and anything else blend together. And also that sandwiches are relatively quick and simple to make, as Inori proved just now...."
She shook her head. "Well, if you want to eat first before heading out to find the first Alpha Device, don't let me stop you. Take all the time you need."
At that, she left the sandwich club to its own devices as she turned her attention to Fate and her request. She took the cartridge and examined it for a few moments, before nodding.
"All right. This should be perfectly doable."
Then she held out her staff in the same manner as she'd done for the communicator. As before, a rune appeared on the table. A few moments later, a lot more boxes than the simple couple Fate asked for appeared. There seemed to be at least twenty, although about the only thing that could be said that there was enough for a few boxes to get pushed off the table and fall down to the floor.
"Um...I, may have overdone it a little...." Hikaru said, rubbing the back of her head sheepishly as she looked upon the newfound mess, "At least now you don't have to worry about running out...?"
Then she glanced back at the others. "If there's anything the rest of you might need, please tell me. I'd like for you to be as prepared as possible for what's ahead."
Icon by Civvi the Civilian! So these things were called sandwiches according to Hikaru. That sure was a strange name. What did sand have to do with anything?
Meanwhile, Sayaka wanted to see who would join her in a sandwich-eating competition. Big mistake.
"...is that a challenge?"
Raquel wasn't one to accept every challenge that presented itself in her life... mostly because she was kind of a hermit but if there was something, anything that she could beat these girls at was eating her own weight in food. And for the love of Quetzal she was going to prove it.
She quickly took another sandwich and shoved it in her mouth while some of her spiders joined in, crawling all over the rest of the sandwiches and starting to take nibbles of them.
"How ith da?" she said, still trying to chew her food.
As Hikaru was done summoning a few things, okay scratch that, a lot of things for Fate, she made it clear they could start their mission any time they wanted. Well, might as well get it over with quickly.
"Im don hear"
Hikaru's Kitchen -> GTFO to Hikaru's Location
"Nope."Inori set down her sandwich, looking like she was going to be sick, and quickly walked away while making gagging sounds.
When she caught up to Hikaru, she saw that she was having a summoning free-for-all and decided to do her part. "Can you summon a Zune!?" she asked. "No no no wait. Five Zunes?"
Oh, look at that. Raquel had gladly accepted her challenge. Figures she would, of all people. The older girl shoved another one whole into her mouth, while seemingly...summoning a...horde of...spiders...to nibble away at the rest of the pile. It was really nauseating to look at, a sentiment which Inori clearly agreed with considering it got her to stop eating herself...but Sayaka held her lunch in long enough to at least pack the one she'd grabbed down her throat.
"Jeeter," she countered, mostly muffled by the mass of bread and miscellaneous other food items currently in her gob. She alternated between chewing as fast as humanely possible and swallowing perhaps more.
Hikaru asked if there was anything she or the other girls might need before things got started. Well, there was a chance she was gonna need a lot of magic for this one, so...
"I miht nee some Grief Shees evebtually, when I stard running low on mashic."

To say that Hikaru's summoning ended up being overdone was quite a bit of an understatement. Still, with what she had learnt of the other girl's abilities so far, if she had happened to reach into a storage full of such boxes, then it would probably be hard not to bring this many more along ...
"Well, I suppose it can't be helped. Most of these should probably be moved to the storage room and we will have to see how to go from there later. There should be still a surplus even after all this over, so we can turn it back over when Chrono gets here ... In anycase, yeah, not having to worry about lack of these will definitely go a long way in this whole ordeal. Now let's see ..." Fate then said.
She reached for the nearest box and gathered a few dozens of the cartridges from it, using a couple to replete Bardiche's magazine, then filing the rest away in the chamber from which he would auto-reload. That done, he then reassembled the whole mechanism back together.
"Yes, this should do quite nicely. Thank you, Hikaru. Well, I'm pretty much ready for now, so whenever everyone else is ..."
She checked her bag. "Also, my parents gifted me a harp and... I did not have it with me when you summoned me, if you could summon that as well I would be very grateful. It has... sentimental value. And would be good for morale, I suppose."
All are significantly abnormal in a normal world... All are significantly normal in an abnormal world.Hikaru frowned in slight confusion at Raquel and Sayaka.
"...Can both of you swallow your food first? I can't understand you when your mouths are full."
Then she turned to Inori.
"First, I'll need to know what a 'Zune' is. If I don't have a good mental picture of what it is I'm trying to summon, I won't be able to get it for you." From there she turned to Maia. "Same goes for your harp. Although I know what a harp is, if I try summoning one the chances I'll get your specific harp are minimal. Also, what kind of books are you looking for? I have plenty here already, but I doubt they're the sorts of things you'd really enjoy reading...."

Icon by Civvi the Civilian! And figures, Hikaru couldn't understand what she just said with all this stuff filling every inch of her mouth. Well, at least she wasn't the only one doing it, Raquel. Sayaka hurriedly finished up the mass of sandwich, though the sheer amount of food meant it still took a little longer than she would have preferred to finish it all.
After swallowing the last morsel, she tried again.
"Ahah, sorry. I was trying to say I'll need Grief Seeds, to replenish my magic when it runs low. They're these little black orb things that witches leave behind when you defeat one. It sounds like we'll be doing a lot of fighting, so I'll need the magic. And it wouldn't hurt to keep them out of reach of those other girls."

"What's a- WHAT'S A ZUNE?" Inori asked in shock. "Why, only the greatest personal media playback device released for consumer purchase in the last decade, that's what it is."She tapped around on her holo display and brought up an image of one such device on the screen.◊ "Behold! The Zune HD! With a 64 gigabyte flash storage drive, touch screen interface, HD radio, Wi-fi, USB, HDMI, and a powerful graphics chipset, it can serve all your personal media needs for over eight hours of video and thirty hours of audio, and a stylish pair of included foam-tipped earbuds."
She let out a breath. "Umm.... Yeah, I dunno, I thought maybe it would be fun to get some for the people who don't have modern technology, and that way they could learn a little about music and stuff. Do you think you can get us some? I have my music library with me all the time so I can transfer some songs onto them for everyone."
Inori proclaimed she was going to introduce the girls to the... 21st centruy(?) before using her fancy powers—did she really need to show off in front of Raquel?—to take tomatoes, bread, lettuce, and, basically anything she could find only to put it between two slices of bread.
The result was something that looked less than appetizing and it was starting to slowly spill its content. Once again, Raquel found herself thinking the interweb was a scary place if it thought whatever that was, was an appropriate meal.
"...what did you do?!" Raquel asked, inspecting Inori's invention. Wo touched it with one of her tentacles and it unsurprisingly reacted like a shapeless blob. Bread wasn't made for this.
"You ruined a lot of food to... make that"
