Would the T-800 fit?

I could imagine the first movie's T-800 and Sarah Connor as a chapter. They'd probably just have it be the skeleton so as to not have to shell out for Arnold's face. Plus it would fit the horror aesthetic better.

Though if Dutch also showed up as a Predator survivor I wonder if that would change anything on that front.

[up][up] I'd say so. The original Terminator was basically a horror movie, it just has a sci-fi-based killer rather than a supernatural one (e.g. Freddy, Pinhead) or a comparatively-mundane killer (e.g. Leatherface, Michael Myers outside of the "Thorn Trilogy"). We know from the Singularity and the Xenomorph (and maybe the Demogorgon, depending on how sci-fi or just straight-up supernatural you consider Stranger Things to be) that the devs aren't averse to including sci-fi Killers or franchises.

If not it, then definitely the T-1000, despite Terminator 2 going more for action than horror.

My Marvel dream pick would be Carnage. A symbiote killer would be awesome.

And i consider him iconic enough, we need a Junji Ito chapter.

If we're going with more recent picks, I feel like Art the Clown or Red and her family would work pretty well.

[up][up]A chapter themed around a specific horror writer sounds fun. The obvious choice would be Stephen King, but apparently they've approached him more than once and he's said no. Shame.

Some point codes for everyone:

THANKYOUFOR60M – one million Bloodpoints and 6,000 Iridescent Shards
ELGATO – 50,000 Bloodpoints
GFUEL – 50,000 Bloodpoints
STEELSERIES – 50,000 Bloodpoints

Also the Shrine of Secrets has Rancor on it, which might be fun to combine with Friends 'Til the End.

It's a bit of a shame Chucky doesn't come with a map, I've always thought the Good Guy Doll factory from the second movie would make an awesome one.

A follow-up on my previous question about Jason Voorhees... is Pamela also in Copyright Jail, anyone know? Apparently, characters from different installments of big horror franchises can have different copyright status... somehow. I actually first learned this looking up that Texas Chainsaw game I mentioned earlier - according to Bill Moseley, his character Chop Top Sawyer wasn't allowed to appear in that because somehow has a completely different copyright status than the other characters (Moseley hopes to pay out of pocket to buy the rights himself).

That's kind of weird, and it made me wonder if the same was true of Jason and Pamela.

Pamela's version from the first movie is owned by Victor Miller, who's the writer. She's a lot easier to license i think given how she's only one movie. BUT the game can't have anything after the first movie IF they only have the license from Miller. Allegedly the rest of the franchise is owned by someone else, that includes the other portrayal of Pamela.

There's a similar situation with Freddy and Chucky. The parent company of Freddy only gave them permission to use Remake freddy as they very protective of the IP. Whereas Chucky is from Child's Play 2 because Universal doesn't have the rights for the first movie.

Horror movie franchise are licensing nightmare than i'm surprised they still manage to land those.

Licensing stuff for classic horror is indeed super weird:

  • Evil Dead is notoriously a copyright nightmare since every movie has a different owner, even the show couldn't reference anything from Army of Darkness in the first season. And in DBD, they only licensed the TV version of Ash, hence the DLC being explicitly titled the "Ash vs. Evil Dead Chapter". All this notably resulted in Ash getting removed from Mortal Kombat 11 despite him being worked on, because I'm guessing they wanted the complete package in terms of references and not have to settle for one version of him.
  • Child's Play is in a less severe state: MGM owns the first movie and I think the actual "Child's Play" name, which is why A) they were able to make that remake where Chucky's a robot that only used stuff from the first movie, and B) why the sequels and merchandise eventually underwent a Franchise-Driven Retitling to just Chucky. The sequels and TV show, along with the overall IP, belong to Universal (incidentally, Chucky's addition to the game got me to start watching the show. It's good.)
  • Nightmare... I actually don't know what's up with it. I understand that it used to be owned by Warner Bros via New Line Cinema, but the rights eventually reverted to Wes Craven's estate. Freddy was added to DBD before that, but apparently no issues rose up because he was never removed like the Stranger Things content, unlike Mortal Kombat 9 which got completely delisted from online stores. And even then, around Halloween I bought a deluxe Freddy glove from Spirit Halloween as a cool display piece, and the packaging had Robert Englund's face on it and the WB shield, with a copyright date of this year, so I'm just confused about what all that means. They also had Jason stuff there but I never thought to check it for that copyright info.

Freddy's deal is that they are very protective of the IP, so licensing is difficult. That's why we only have the remake and probably will never get anything new.

Besides Jason, the other big licenses that might difficult to get is anything from Stephen King. The man completely refuses to work with videogames.

Y'know, Chucky's had me thinking about what other kinds of Mechanically Unusual Fighter Killers could potentially happen. Like, how would they get Jaws to work? Or Godzilla? Or The Walking Dead... by which I mean an entire zombie horde, controlled RTS style or something? It's an interesting thought exercise.

I imagine Jaws being an "Environmental Hazard" than anything else.

At random times, you get two-maybe three seconds to hide or dodge, and then this massive shark comes in through a portal, chomps everything down in its path for a second, and then leaves through another one, resulting in an insta-kill on anything that ended up in its path.

Working against everyone on the arena, killers and survivors alike.

I haven't played Chucky yet outside of PTB (figured I'd let everybody playing Chucky die down a bit first) but I had an idea for a build I'll want to try when I do.

Chucky has two add-ons that affect his terror radius: A brown that reduces his Terror Radius by 4 meters when Hidey-Ho Mode is on cooldown and a green that permanently reduces it by 6 meters but increases Slice and Dice charge.

I might have the numbers flipped, but either way that's 10 meters off of Chucky's Terror Radius when Hidey-Ho is charging. Combine that with Monitor and Abuse and that's his TR cut by more than half. Use Whispers and you'll have a window where you know exactly when someone is around, but they won't know you are and you can go Hidey-Ho to close in.

You don't need the add-ons, as combining Whispers and Monitor is an old Pig trick, or you could use the add-ons without Monitor, but I like going unconventional stealth (to the point of having viable stealth builds for Doctor & Legion, of all Killers note ) so I'm all in on the overkill. Making a proper build around that is something I'll definitely be tinkering with.

Its from the same company that did Until Dawn, The Quarry, and the Dark Pictures Anthology. I would assume that this would fulfill a similar format.

Starting Jan 8, Dead By Daylight will be packaging older, non-licensed DLCs (up to Mikaela) into bundles and reducing their individual prices in the in-game store. Not entirely clear yet what this will do for the DLC bundles' prices. The way I'm understanding it, it sounds like Steam, PS Store, etc will have those bundles but you can still buy them in game individually and the game currency costs to do so well be reduced by half
