Did you mean Shadow of Mordor?

They are removing the market place and loot boxes in July.

Who watches the watchmen?

Yes (stupid typos), and I'm aware of that. I heard from multiple reviewers that I trust that the lootbox system was intrusive, and I didn't want to buy into that even if I ignored the market. With its imminent departure, I was thinking of jumping back in.

Yeah, they were barely even noticeable.

But they were there, if you wanted them.

I'm probably just gonna open all of the ones I've gotten just cuz.

They were always highlighted when you entered menu though, so in that respect they were intrusive <_<

Lootboxes were just sitting there. I played through with SoW blocked from network access so it wasn't even highlighted with offers tongue

I suspect those reviews were mainly on about the Shadow War section, which is a chain of sieges for which some boxes would sure be jolly helpful. Get yourself some orcs to shore the numbers up and various improvements for your existing stable. Former really not necessary, you can get infinite high-level orcs from the arena challenges, but the latter is pretty nice and tempting. But overall the section is a bit of a slog.

The update that ditches lootboxes promises to improve it as well. The DL Cs they put out so far show good development practices, so that's looking hopeful.

Yeah, I'd wait to see how Grind War Shadow War gets overhauled to be less mindlessly grindy first.

The problem is that there was a Guide Dang It! about equipment. I never ever lacked for money because I just sold equipment, and the game never tells you it's an option.

So, a new live stream, about Brutal Difficulty, Frost and Fire Build, More Themed Fortresses.

Yeah but even Yahtzee didn't know.

The game never advises selling old loot, so players don't bother seeing if they can.

Khhh how goddamn much handholding do you need? Do piles of worthless scrap never make you think about disposing of it for even just keeping the scrolling list shorter?

It's not handholding. Just thr game not being informative.

A tutorial instructing you that you can sell gear is exactly handholding. Its not like you need to go find a pawnshop or something, you just push a button.

You don't need a tutorial. Just a tooltip during a loading screen.

The inventory screen outright tells you. It shows you what each button does for each item.

The inventory screen has the triangle button to say "Dismantle for Mirian".

Yeah it's right there on screen. There was no need for a tutorial or tool tip. Just a need to look at the screen and read what the buttons do.

So I Shamed a Warchief, and for some reason he gained 17 levels. He has no true exploitable weaknesses, and I can't take him. Now he's back up to Warchief.

Is the siege still going to be manageable with him stomping around? And does Shaming Warchiefs always nearly double their level.

Did he become a maniac? Or did he visually change? I know that there's a chance for Uruks to turn into "the Unashamed".

His title didn't change (I've seen it happen before this was different in that he gained the levels right away and never lost anything. He also gained Poisonous on the spot.), but he definitely lost his personality (a shame, he was an interesting one) in exchange for constant cry-laughing.

Shamed a 2nd Warchief, and it was the standard -5 levels.

I managed to kill him during the siege, by heroically sniping his constantly from the rooftops while my defenders and siege beasts bashed him around. Decapitated him....but that's no guarantee, as my new Overlord "The Stitch" will attest to.

The constant cry-laughing means he became a maniac.

Yeah, that has a chance to happen if you shame someone.

Yep, you should have had a popup "Became a Maniac!" during the shaming. It's a random chance to happen when doing the thing.

Most fun to do with the Ocker twins, if you have them you should definitely try to drive them to insanity just to see the new personas.

[up] Shame you can't actually recruit them - I remember Jared saying in one of the recent livestreams you just need to shame them to remove the Iron Will trait.

Thing is, I'm pretty sure these guys are actually hard-coded to never lose the trait. I saw Tear shame one of them all the way down to level 1 and he still had Iron Will.

I think Tear shamed the hell out of the both of them? One died while at low-level, one went Maniac after being at 1.

OEM did the same attempt, lotsa shaming, one died by accident, the other deranged.

No loss of Iron Will. (And between the two, they each got a different one to go crazy, so if you missed out on seeing the results by yourself, you can check em in their playlists.)
