Is there a trope for when a character says to another "I belive children are our future" usually followed by the person they are talking to agreeing and revealing that they think the same thing?

Ive seen it in a few different shows and it seems to be mainly played for laughs, with the character acting like its some sort of profound idea that no one else knows and the other character always being impressed by it.

Is it common enough to be some sort of trope or is it listed as an example under some pre existing trope?

Couple of things here:

  • Trope Finder is where you ask "do we have this trope?"
  • Stock Phrases are not tropes. The trope is the underlying plot device or narrative device that the phrase evokes.

"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"
