ARMS Ver. 3.0 coming out later today!
It's out, and... let's see... impressions on Lola Pop and her ARMS.
- Biffler feels so weak HAHA. I'm just used to Hydra levels of damage for that kinda weapon. Oh well. It should still be funna fun fun to put Biff stamps on other players' cameras. 100% gonna use this in the next tournament. On Spring Man, of course.
- Funchucks are kinda slow, but charged it's like the Parasol in terms of deflection of small ARMS. Its Stun element is not something I like either, but oh well.
- That shield whose name escapes me right now... the AI hits it often, but seem to be smart enough at avoiding their own reflected ARMS.
- I enjoyed the air block/bouncing ability. Shame it only moves in the same direction Lola jumped and can't change it while the bubble is up.
- With other ARMS, I think one of the normal gloves (i.e. Toaster) suits her well. The Parasol can be subbed as an uncharged version of the Funchucks that recovers slower in midair. Popper and Cracker also fit her clown theme.
edit:
- She can block while walking forward or back.
- Her hitbox actually increases when blocking, meaning she's grab bait while doing the ballooning.
- While ground blocking, can cancel into a higher jump.

My DA account... I draw stuff sometimes!Bluh I probably won't get a chance to play the update until the weekend. How does her stage compare to the existing ones?
Reaction Image RepositoryIt's a road in a rough (tetris block) S-shape. You can hide easily in corners. I like its aesthetics, but I don't like it competitively.

My DA account... I draw stuff sometimes!Welp.
EDIT: Played through Grand Prix as Lola. Fun stuff. Her victory quotes are hilariously random.

Reaction Image RepositoryEXCUSE ME ARE THOSE ACHIEVEMENTS
THAT UNLOCK PINS YOU CAN EQUIP TO YOUR NAME
YES PLEASE
"Have a good day. Have a good week. Have a good month. Have a good year. Have a good life." ~CiviaThat ain't Spring Man. Looks like a... Springborg, if you ask me. Has an allen wrench for hair and everything.
🏳️⚧️she/her | Vio Rhyse AlberiaSo it's either Evil Ryu or Robo-Ky. Nice!
My DA account... I draw stuff sometimes!Goodu.
The only good fanboy, is a redeemed fanboy.I can't wait for it, even if it's late 2018!
ARMS coming out soon. The article says "tomorrow", but I think Nintendo Everything is a UK site, so just adjust a bit. <3
My DA account... I draw stuff sometimes!Looks like I'm going to need to take a break from Splatoon to play this again soon.
Reaction Image RepositoryThe badges are fun. I enjoy the sound of the 1000-coin badge. Normally I would equip that, but since I finished everyone's GP 7 recently (I need dragons to quickly finish GP 7, and I used the cash from the badges and finally Ninjara and Lola Pop gained dragons), I equipped that instead.
My DA account... I draw stuff sometimes!I wish more people would stream ARMS or post videos online. People always use the "[X Nintendo Game] doesn't get put online because there's no recording option" excuse but that doesn't stop people from streaming OOT speedruns all the time.
This should be in a speedrunning/GDQ thread than the ARMS thread, but I'm gonna say this: a serious speedrunner in any capacity, should have a capture card, if they aren't speedrunning on PC.
And capture cards ain't cheap. Especially customized ones like for the 3DS.
Finally, check out the ARMS reddit periodically for events. For example, the recent Fellows in ARMS vs Breakthrough Esports crew battle isn't on youtube yet which makes it hard to find, but I was able to watch it on Twitch in archives.

My DA account... I draw stuff sometimes!I've seen speedrunners who don't use capture cards. It's rare but happens.
My point was more towards how other games get recorded often despite not having a recording option, while something like ARMS doesn't. I think it's less "It's because people can't record it easily" and more "People just don't want to record it". Does no in-game recording system hurt? Sure. But it's not the only reason.
Maybe ARMS just isn't interesting for people to watch. If that's the issue, I hope the sequel fixes that somehow.
A spectator mode where you could watch matches from a perspective other than that of one of the players would probably help.
Reaction Image RepositoryThat already exists, if you play on Arena mode and not be one of the fighters that are currently up. You can change the view from player cam to top of the stage fixed, or top of the stage dynamic (always aimed between the two players).
Tourmanent streamers prefer third person view, however. It's most relevant to the core audience to see where the punches are going.
I don't understand what you mean. Fighting games, including ARMS, are being streamed on Twitch and placed on youtube all the time? Perhaps you just aren't finding the VODs?

My DA account... I draw stuff sometimes! That's what I get for not using Arena mode very much.
Reaction Image RepositoryWell to be fair you'd have to be participating in or watching tournaments, online or offline, to use Arena Mode a lot.
If you wanna have a preview of it, go check out replay mode after a CPU battle. Similar camera tools are available there, except you can't go third person behind the CPU player.

My DA account... I draw stuff sometimes!ARMS Japan Grand Prix.
Funny, you'd think Lola would integrate a giant clock-themed rug into her stretching.
