Fort - Wall

Gulch's deployment of Deathtrap yielded strange results. For some reason, its motion detecting software did not point itself towards the forest where splashes of white were just starting to emerge from the woods and into the clearing on the fort's Northwest side. Bizarrely, it was pointing south, towards the water and group of small islands. See here again again for a better picture.

The rest of the group could see that about nine or ten troopers had started coming out of the woods and into the clearing. They stayed close to the edge of the forest and did not advance towards the fort yet, as if they were waiting for something. However, they were well within sniper range, a fact that was made clear by Zarbee's broadcast over his comm.

"I'll start shooting once you do. It's a tricky shot but I can probably wing 'em." he said to Sia on the belltower. Lining up on a trooper's head, Sia's efforts were rewarded with one of the white shapes going down. The others saw this and began to retreat further into the forest to take cover behind some trees on the outskirts. Zarbee took a shot too but he seemed to have woefully miscalculated his own abilities as his shot went about three feet above the heads of any of the retreating troopers. Sia could probably still peg one of the retreating troopers if she lined it up right. Maybe she could hit two but she'd have to be really on point.

Fort - Barracks

"I'm not leaving" Arc said resolutely to Karion. "If we retreat then we essentially hand this planet over to the Empire to conquer. This is why I was upset when I found out Trouble Squad had been sent - you guys don't have a concept of ideals greater than yourselves."

Middle of the Forest

Sevenstreams said nothing back over the comm but he must have heard because he sent a headshot over towards the still-standing trooper as he was pinned down by Jaro's suppressing fire. The trooper went down, leaving only the one with the shoulder injury alive. Pawgum popped his head out from behind the tree he was hiding behind.

"Look out!" he shouted to Jaro. The one with the shoulder injury evidently had recovered or hadn't been as injured as he looked. He sprang to his feet and sent a volley of blasterfire at Jaro and Sevenstreams both. With his attention divided, his bolts weren't terribly accurate but if Jaro didn't hit the deck or find tree cover, it could be dangerous. Sevenstreams was even more vulnerable since he wasn't hiding behind anything but some loose branches up in the tree. One bolt even grazed his shoulder.

Approaching the Forest

By the time Kul and Grubdaw approached the outskirts of the forest, they had some options between them. They could choose to try and follow the rather large group that had retreated from Sia and Zarbee's sniper fire. Grubdaw assured the Herglic that his tracking skills were up to par but there were still quite a lot of them. Not to mention the other small groups of troopers they could meet along the way.

Closer to the coast, the trees seemed to be shaking moreso than usual as if something large and heavy was coming down. Getting closer to the forest, Grubdaw and Kul could hear something almost like a metal boot coming down upon the ground. Whether they chose to investigate or not was up to them. Of course, Jaro and Sevenstreams might need medical attention so they could head in their direction as well.

Sia was on point, but not that on point, and only bothered to try for one, firing off a couple more shots after that just to keep their heads down.
Forest
Sabia continued scouting around for the walker, careful not to garner any imperial attention to herself.

Wall

Gulch squeals in frustration.

"What do you think you're doing, you piece of junk! They're over there!"

Disappointed in his big gun's failure to do its job, he picks it up, and though it's very unwieldy, he keeps his balance and redeploys it in a more suitable location.

Finally, it resumes normal function.

The forest

Kul's brow furrowed, then he readied his blaster pistol. "All right, let's get moving then," he stated. He jumped a little when he heard the stomping noise from the distance. "We should... probably start following those tracks," Kul stated, gesturing at Grubdaw and into the forest. "Very well, lead the way," he urged, looking around carefully to see if there were any troopers nearby.

Fort Barracks

Karion laughed bitterly. "Ideals? The Squad has ideals. I had ideals, too, once. I was dedicated to working as hard as I could. And then I lost everything to the Empire. My arms, my legs, my entire lower body. My life. Revenge is the most important thing in my life at the moment, and personally, I don't need an ideal anymore."

Of course, Arc was right- leaving would be like letting the Empire stroll right in. But they could always try, try again. If everyone died a painful death, there wouldn't be any trying again for them. Arc not wanting to leave wasn't something that Karion was going to take into account if everything went to hell. His survival was imperative; losing the planet would be a blow, but so would his death.

Middle of the Forest

Jaro grunted as he hit a tree trunk, then kicked back off of it to send him back into the clearing. This time, he used his jump pack to rapidly send himself back the way he came and fired down at the stormtrooper with his rifle. Playing the odds between his speed and the trooper's injury, he hoped that between him and the two locals somebody would land a shot first.

Forest - Sabia

Sabia's search for the walker would naturally lead her towards the loud stomping noises that were characteristic of a walker. Or perhaps she'd follow the large indentations in the ground that were clearly not made by a walker. Either way, she'd soon find herself within sight of what was making both the tracks and the sounds. Unfortunately for the spotter, this was not a walker but, rather, the droid that had allegedly crushed Zarbee's rib. Standing around ten feet tall and wielding a large duracrete shield and a terrifying looking flamethrower, Sabia would recognize the robot from her time in the Alliance as a scout and spy as a Incinerator war droid. Fortunately, the droid's back was turned to her but the two stormtroopers that were flanking it could easily turn around and spot her if she wasn't careful.

Forest - Jaro

Having just used the jump pack with not a whole lot of time to cool down, Jaro didn't get a whole lot of distance but that ended up being a blessing as he landed more or less directly in front of the stormtrooper. With that range and his rifle, the stormtrooper went down in one shot. Sevenstreams, clutching his slightly injured arm with one hand scampered down the tree and headed to Jaro, followed closely by Pawgum.

"Well that's three of the bastards down. Do we search for more in the woods or head back to the fort?" Pawgum asked, while Sevenstreams amused himself by violently kicking the corpses of the dead troopers. Almost comedic in timing, their commlinks came to life with a transmission from Zarbee.

"Guys we got a big one back here! Get back and help!"

Forest - Kul

Grubdaw was able to follow the trooper's tracks easily. Apparently, they were more trained for tactical strikes and attacking Tynnan villages than forested warfare. As it was, they were quickly to able to see the group of eight troopers gathered around in the center of a ring of trees, looking like they were regrouping and waiting for people. Kul and Grubdaw were currently concealed from their vision by a large bush but their cover was unfortunately blown when Grubdaw's commlink crackled to life.

"Guys we got a big one back here! Get back and help!" Zarbee's voice squawked out desperately, followed by the sound of blasterfire. The troopers heard this spun around and began shooting blindly in the general direction of Kul and Grubdaw.

Fort - Wall

Evidently, Deathtrap wasn't malfunctioning when it pointed itself towards the water near the archipelago of islands near the pennisula where the fort was. This was evidenced by the large head of an Imperial AT-ST walker surfacing from the water and rising steadily as it began to advance towards land and the fort. Zarbee fired a shot at it but it did all of nothing and the walker just continued to rise from the water. It wasn't at the fort yet but once it got there, it looked like it could cause some real damage seeing as it seemed to be slightly taller than the fort's wall.

"What do we do?" Portreaver asked those on with more experince than he on the wall. He looked worried but his tone was cool and collected.

Fort Barracks

"What the hell was that?" Arc asked worriedly at Zarbee's transmission from the belltower and the heavy sounds of the walker's water-muffled footsteps.

Middle of Forest

Jaro stood up and looked down at the dead troopers. "Good work, need some more practice with simultaneous firing though. You boys familiar with how to search a corpse?" he asked. "Take the weapons, take the belts, check for anything else. We're going to be on the move soon, and their rifles are better than your hunting rifles when it comes to patrol carry. Belts should have all sorts of things you can use, especially grappling hooks, grenades, and medpacs."

He bent down to grab one of the aforementioned belts, and casually tossed it at Sevenstreams. "Take the medpac out of there and use it on your arm. We'll strip the bodies. When you finish, we're heading back. Work fast."

He returned to inspecting the dead stormtroopers. He took one rifle for himself, slinging it over his back, and leaving the other two for the Tynnans to take. Then he started to look for thermal detonators and anything else they might have had on them.

The forest

Kul ducked back, trying to stay out of sight as much as possible, and cursed under his breath. He backed up from the bush, pulling the landmine from his pack and moving to try and set it up, delicately, just behind the bush. He gestured for Grubdaw to follow him back, away from the blast radius of the landmine, then he pulled his blaster pistol and blasted through the bush to try and lure the Stormtroopers over. He hoped they would take the bait.

Fort Shield - The Wall
Sia sighed. She looked through her sights - the window shutters were closed. Of course they were. It had been under water. She looked down at the magazines on her side. Assault rifle configuration would just draw attention to her, not actually accomplish anything. Hopefully the SAW turret would be able to do something. She relocated, tracking the AT-ST's window shutters for an opening to snipe through.

Forest
Sabia shrunk back, having... all of a pistol to deal with this shit. It was a stupidly powerful pistol, but it wouldn't do diddly squat against that droid. She shuffled back, very careful not to make any noise until she was safely away, though with any luck still in visual contact. She activated her comm quietly. "No sign of the walker, but I found the droid."

"Well, we've had more luck with finding the walker."

Sabia swore. She pulled out her electrobinoculars, and took a few quick heading and speed readings. Hopefully she'd able to determine how soon the thing'd arrive at the fort.

Gulch squealed in frustration. Again.

"Sorry, DT. Keep the imps down while I think of something. Damn it, if I only had some heavy explosives...Wait a minute!"

Gulch's attention turned to the beach as he jumped off the wall. As he gathered his tripmines (which don't explode on the deployer and allies), he radioed into the entire network.

"Trouble squad, we've found the walker! It's in the water near the archipelago south of the base! Anyone have any ideas for getting some heavy explosives over that way?!"

He stops the transmission and groans to himself.

"I should have invested in the missile launcher!"

Middle of Forest - Jaro

The blasters that were on the three troopers were all standard E-11's. In addition to the standard equipment on an Imperial stormtroopers' utility belt, the ones looted from the three troopers had some spare ammo on their belt so Jaro and the Tynnans could refill any of the rifles that didn't have a full clip. Each of the troopers carried one grenade on their belt so Jaro was welcome to take any or all of them. They weren't particularly devastating explosives but they'd send troopers running if it was thrown in their direction. No other troopers were currently coming to their location but they could see a flash of white moving around in the brush about a quarter mile north of them.

Area Of The Forest slightly closer to the fort - Sabia

Sabia thankfully was able to stay out of the war droid and two troopers' lines of sight. From her speed readings, she could guess that the droid would be upon the fort in two to three minutes if it kept up its current slow pace. Whether or not the thing could go any faster than the leisurely marching pace it was currently at was hard to tell but it was certainly destroying any trees, bushes, and plants in its way.

Closest To The Fort - Kul

Kul, due to his large frame and taking the time to set up the landmine managed to take a blaster bolt to the shoulder. It burned and it hurt like hell to clench his fist but with some bacta, it'd be fine. Better yet, Kul had managed to set up the landmine and the troopers seemed ready to step into its radius in their pursuit of the Herglic. What was not good however was Grubdaw deciding to charge the Imperials and not retreat. Predictably, he got his lit up by about seven blaster bolts hitting his furry frame until he finally slumped over dead, axe still in his hand. If Kul waited a few seconds, he might expose himself more to blasterfire but more Imperials would be congregated around the mine. Or he could just detonate it now and see how many troopers it took out.

Fort - Outside

Sia's was able to look, aim, line up her shot and then...be forced to dodge for cover as the walker, only knee deep in water at this point, tilted its cannon up and fired upon the belltower where she and Zarbee were. Splinters of wood went flying and the bell came crashing down on the ground, the force of which knocked Sia and Zarbee of their feet. The AT-ST looked like it was about to fire again, all the while continuing to march forward. Within seconds, its head would be over the wall and would be able to fire on practically anything within the fort.

"Tynnans, to the wall! We can jump on that thing!" Portreaver shouted over his comm, indicating that his Tynnan brethren on the wall and guarding the door follow him as he went around to the portion of the wall closest to the walker. Whether jumping on the thing was a good idea was uncertain but Portreaver had no orders and was doing what his natural Tynnan instincts told him. And that was jumping on a walker.

Fort - Barracks

"Damn it - that's it! I'm going out there!" Arc shouted as he heard the news and sound of the impending walker. The Rebel agent began hustling out the door.

The forest

Kul Moko gasped and winced as he was shot in the shoulder, but he backed up and got ready to set off the bomb once they retreated. His eyes widened, however, when Grubdaw charged in instead of running, and was shot by multiple Stormtroopers and fell dead on the forest floor. He would stop to mourn, but this was not a good time. Instead, he primed the explosive to detonate and began to run back towards the fort. He aimed his blaster back towards the Stormtroopers as he ran. Any Imperials that survived the blast would most likely be dazed and confused, perfect targets for a well-placed blaster pistol shot.

"Tynnans, If you're jumping on that thing, then I have a plan. Grab my tripmines, attach them to the cockpit, and bail. Me and Deathtrap will take care of the rest. Deathtrap, distract that thing!"

''"Die, Imperial dogs!"'"

DT's gun whirred to life as it unleashed a barrage of plasma power right at the machine's window area.

Fort - Barracks

"Humm dee dum, blowing things up, lots o fun." Alkyn hummed along in the barracks while she was working on some final modifications to her grenade launcher. Normally, these modifications should have been completed well before the mission actually began but Alkyn had for some reason decided that Greg was "Not dressed for the occasion" so she was working on some last-minute tinkering with both Greg and her grenades. She had heard some shouting over her comms but she wasn't really listening. She could never listen properly when she was working.

"Theeere we go." As Alkyn finished clamping together her grenade launcher's final pieces, she felt the ground shake under her as Arc ran out of the Barracks. She heard some talk of boarding some sort of vehicle and using explosives of some sort. "HEY, WAIT FOR ME!"

Alkyn quickly slipped all of her grenades into her robes and ran out of the barracks after Arc. She scurried up the wall, located Portreaver and huffed, "I know what you're planning, and that's super duper cool, but first, lemme see if I can hit them with a little something special." Alkyn pulled up Greg and primed her weapon. "HEYA BUCKET-HEADS! GOT A A LITTLE PRESENT FOR YOU!" Alkyn launched a small volley of mini-grenades from her grenade launcher aimed at the pelvic joints of the AT-ST walker. If one had super-human vision, they would see that on each grenade were hurriedly scribbled on words saying "Bucket-Heads 1, and 2"

"Alright, I'll take these, you boys take these, and then we move out of here on the double," Jaro said, strapping the three grenades to his belt, shoving some ammo and the two remaining medkits into his own belt. He picked up one of the E-11's and slung its strap over his back - he probably wouldn't need it, but someone back in the fighting probably would - and then handed the other two E-11's to the two Tynnans.

"We're the cavalry, and they're going to need us to provide one hell of a reinforcing, so keep your eyes sharp, your E-11's set to kill, and be ready to fight at any second. I'm going to take to the trees and keep an eye in the sky. Sevenstreams, you bring up the rear. Pawgum, you keep ahead of him by at least a dozen meters." With that, Jaro took a step towards the base and activated his jump pack, taking to the trees to get a better vantage point.

Fort - Barracks

Naturally, Arc proceeded to ignore Karion and start running. The cyborg paused, watching as Alkyn ran out too. Dammit, things weren't going well at all. He heard the smart technician guy radio in, and a barrage of plasma-fire slammed into the AT-ST's windshield. Bombs might take it down, but it might hit Arc before it went down, he cursed.

"I'm going for it! Watch your fire!" He shouted, ducking outside of the fort. Pointing his right wrist- which had a black grappling hook and tether on it- at the machine, he used his thumb to push the concealed trigger. He was aiming for one of the blasters, but Karion just hoped that he could hit it. That would be nice.

If he actually managed to hit something, than the hook would attempt to retract- and pull him with it, hopefully without getting him killed by Deathtrap's fire or Alkyn's grenades. Or any of the Tynnans that were about to jump down.

On second thought, this was a terrible idea.

Fort Wall

Gulch's desperately quick comm call to the Tynnans saved their lives as Portreaver nonverbally told his men to halt and take cover by the wall to hear the broadcast. This hesitation on the Tynnans' part was quite prudent as the walker's cannons was focused right on where they would have jumped off the wall to assault it. What it was not focused on was Deathtrap's assault on its main head. While the concussive force wasn't quite enough to force it back, it did cause several ugly looking scorch marks all along the hull. The walker kept pressing forward and looked ready to blast Deathrap to smithereens before Alkyn and Karion came by.

Karion yanked himself towards the walker with his grapple while Alkyn lobbed grenades at the walker's groin area. Unfortunately, the success these two manuevers might have had some success separately but together, they ended up working against each other. The force from her grenades ended up stumbling back the walker and shaking it so badly that Karion was knocked off. He fell off the walker. Fortunately, his cyborg status saved him from more than a bruising but he was now outside the fortress' walls. Coupled with the fact that, despite the walker having taken a pretty serious beating, the AT-ST was still pressing forward and its left foot was about to crush Karion.

Forest

Jaro's leap gave him sight of the walker getting beaten by a barrage of some form of bright explosions or lasers. Once his spurt of jetpack ran out, Jaro would hit ground and would see a loud explosion about twenty yards to the right of him deep in the forest and a sea of white charging through it. That, of course, was Kul's handiwork. Choosing to detonate it immediately killed three of the troopers with another being downed by Kul's shot. Unfortunately, taking the time to shoot gave a trooper the opportunity to blast the ground near Kul, causing the Herglic to stumble. He could still regain his balance and keep running or fighting but it served as a reminder that there were still a handful of troopers bearing down on the medic.

Sia sighed, ducking down from the belltower, having forgot the first rule of being in firefight (well, one of them, anyways): If you have line of sight to them, they have line of sight to you. Fort - Outside

Karion yelled something that might have been a curse. Or a prayer. Or an insult. It was rather hard to tell at the moment; kicking off the ground, he rolled to the side and fired his grappling hook at the AT-ST once more.

Hopefully without the grenades, he might actually be able to get onto it, and hold his position.

As he did so, he wondered where Arc was. Karion hoped that someone would get the foolish idiot inside again, but he was smart enough to realize that there wasn't much chance of that happening.

And- oh, joy- there was another droid coming there way. With a flamethrower.

Joy.

Between the explosions, Deathtrap's minigun, and the walker, Gulch had to yell to be heard

"You hear that, Deathtrap!? Flamethrower droid, inbound! ETA three-to-four!"

"I'LL MAKE HIM BLEED LIKE THE REST!"

"Until then, keep firing!"

Deathtrap laughed maniacally as he continued to fire on the cockpit's windshield. If he couldn't damage it, he could at least screw with the pilot's visibility.

Fort Walls

Alkyn bellowed in excitement as the bombs found their mark "HAHAHA, I SURE LOVE THE TASTE OF BANTHA FODDER IN THE MORNING LASER-BRAINS! BAHAHAHAHAHA!" In the middle of her explosives-fueled ecstasy, Alkyn didn't notice the horrid situation she had just put her squadmate in. It wasn't until one of the allied soldiers pointed out Karion under the walker that she realized what had happened. "Oh... Oh bugger."

'"Guys, you have the droid incoming. Flamethrower-equipped. ETA... three or four minutes, if it doesn't speed up. Look for the racket and destruction of forest."'

Having been sufficiently brought down from her combat high, Alkyn ducked behind what cover was left and responded. "I've got a couple of EMP nades ready for that droid anytime, but it's going to be tough to deal with anything so long as we still have this AT-ST breathing down our necks. I'll see if I can help deal with this without killing our squad." Alkyn switched channels to a direct line to Karion. "Sorry about that mate. I tend to get carried away. Hope this next one won't hurt you. If it does, eh, what's the worst that could happen?"

Saying that, Alkyn expertly tossed one of her weaker micro-grenades at the roof of the AT-ST. Ideally so that the explosion wouldn't interfere with Karion's grappling hook and to blow out the top hatch of the chicken walker.

Fort - Wall

Unfortunately, the wall was just too far of a jump to make from the belltower so Sia would have to make her way down the stairs if she still wanted to head that way. Evidently, Zarbee also had that idea as he was already scampering down, the belltower having been compromised. Fortunately, the tower lead down to the reinforced barracks, which were much better insulated against blasts from the walker's cannons.

Speaking of which, the AT-ST pilots were evidently not too thrilled with the Rebels having been so adamant about not being blown to bits. Alkyn's grenade unfortunately was thrown too soon. It blasted a hole in the top hatch alright but it seemed that one of the AT-ST's pilots had decided to pop his head out anyway because his grey helmet emerged from the walker and he aimed a blaster pistol at the crowd of Tynnans below. That paired with the walker's side-mounted weapon pods caused quite a laser light show.

"Get off the wall!" Portreaver called out, already jumping off. Riverdance managed to follow him but Bopwalker was not so lucky and was blasted quite literally across the fort, landing in a heap on the ground. The AT-ST pilot with his head popped out was firing shots at random, trying to keep the Rebels pinned. His most recent blasts were hitting uncomfortable close to the advancing Arc. The walker also was firing - at Skygazer and Fuggle below guarding the gate. While Deathtrap's barrage was limiting the pilot's visibility, the one whose head was out in the open seemed to be calling out targets and directions to his cohort belowdecks in between shooting his pistol. Unfortunately for Deathtrap, with such a steady stream of fire, he would soon start to overheat unless he stopped. Because of Deathtrap's shots though, Karion would find it a difficult but manageable climb up towards the cockpit. He was reaching the cockpit now and it was up to him whether he wanted to wait for his companions to stop firing or risk moving in the line of fire.

Forest

Pawgum and Sevenstreams heeded the ex-clone trooper's advice and hid behind a tree while Jaro launched his grenade. His cyborg arms gave extra weight to his throw and actually managed to strike a stormtrooper right in the torso, turning the unfortunate Imperial recruit into a mess of shrapnel with the explosion. The remaining three troopers of what used to be an ten man squad wisely turned tail and fled, keeping their bodies to low to avoid Kul's shots.

Outside

For anyone looking, it appeared that somebody had given an order to advance as twenty-three Imperial troops came pouring out of the woods. They were scattered and in small groups and bringing up the rear was a massive looking droid with a flamethrower. They would be on the for in less than a minute. Although they were currently heading towards the front gate, with their grappling hooks and grenades, they could probably force their way in through any of the walls.
