Bump.
I might be crazy for doing this, but I already made a page for this movie.
Not bad considering how we don't have a lot to work with, right?
Double bump.
The movie's getting licensed by Altitude Film Sale.
Is the reason why people aren't talking more about this movie is because there aren't a lot of details to discuss regarding it?
I kinda hate it when that happens.
Is anyone at least remotely looking forward to it?

I'm really hyped for it! The book it's based on is probably my Mom's favorite children's book ever, so she got me to read it a long time ago. I'm sure it'll lend itself really well to a Ghibliesque movie even though I don't think the original included this much fire. It's a super British book, and she always told me J K Rowling stole the idea from Mary Stewart. That animation with the squid things is so amazing!! It's nice to see that we'll keep getting Studio Ghibli's style even though Miyazaki is retired. Well, mostly retired anyway.
"No, madam, I am not Mr. Cutts the butcher... No, Madam, this is not Marlinspike 431, This is 421, Madam... Not at all, madam."Hey, look! A new trailer!
And the movie's coming in Japan on July 8th!

So these guys are basically the Don Bluth to Ghibli's Disney?
I went and saw that this morning...was not fan.
I saw it this afternoon.
I liked it.
It's rare that I like an ending that has someone resolving to give up magic. But I quite liked this one
I was thinking while watching it about the way the broom kept stuttering. I thought of three reasons why that might keep happening. 1. Mary is pushing the last of the magic from the flowers into it, 2. the broom itself conserves a bit of magic as a safety feature, or 3. Mary has a tiny bit of innate untrained magic potential due to her Great Aunt. Of the three I like 2. the most. Because of how it fits thematically.
Its a weird thing to focus on, but I just kept thinking about it on the way back from the film.
"But if that happened, Melia might actually be happy. We can't have that." - Handsome RobI liked it
Saw the dub version and it was very solid.
Hope for the future success of this studio and see what they do next.
I think you'd be forgiven for thinking this was from Studio Ghibli themselves.
But no, this is the first project by a new anime studio called Studio Ponoc, which is, as the title of this thread would tell you, is from people who used to work at Studio Ghibli.
(And it really shows, doesn't it?)
