  • Name: The Khanate of Transdanubia
  • Location: In a vague square going from Vac and Pecs in Hungary, including Budapest, up to Wien/Vienna and Graz in Austria, including Bratisla if allowed. Basically forming a border around the Danube river.
  • Main Cities: Budapest, Wien, Bratisla
  • Culture:

    • Culture, in short: They were once a nomadic people and have not long lived n the area they do. Taking up what others call civilization, they still retain many of their features of their nomadic culture. Due to the nature of horses and their hooves, their own form of blonde horse is a national animal, and every woman is given a horse when she reaches adulthood, whom is hers if the need ever arises for them to defend the nation. There are three people in every marriage, due to this link: A man, a woman, and a horse. A horse is not properly, a horse has the same rights as any woman living in this land. Their music due to this is fundamentally percussion based, and essentially derives from how it started with warriors on horses trying to imitate those they fought with. With this, war chants are a form of singing done in unison, where the fighters announce why they were there, and allow their foes time to run should they wish to live. With this, running or riding from battle is not considered to be cowardly, especially if not on a horse - it is considered to be an honourable way to preserve life

    • Government: Essentially a horde but with links to clans as well, and each clan has some sort of clan elder representing them. No counties here, it's all baronies. The council is formed from the elders. The ruler is always a khana unless realm stability would force there to be a khan, which while rare is accepted. Becoming a khan/khana means no longer being allowed to ride a horse, and being forced to stay in the capital which is Budapest. A Khana is selected by election of Clan Elders.

    • Food: Essentially a nation of meatlovers, due to their once nomadic nature, and lacking any real experience with crops

    • Name format: (title, if present) First Name,of Location, of Clan the Adjective or Nickname, depending. Hence a commoner may be 'Tom, of the Danube of Skyland the Farmer', or for a Khana who was noted as having scars: Khana Samarra, of Wien, of Plainslanders the Red

  • Religion: Esssentially Tengriism, but instead of a sky god it is a sky goddess, and she rides a horse through the sky.
  • Unique Military Unit:
    • Horse Archers
      • Stats: Attack: 5 + 1 > 6, Defence 2 - 1 > 1, Speed 9 + 1 > 10
      • Story: Horse Archers have always been the Khanate's main elite force - hit and run, and fast as the Sky Goddess

    • Cataphracts (cavalry)
      • Stats: Attack: 5 - 1 > 4, Defence 2 + 4 > 6, Speed 9 - 3 > 6
      • Story: Slow and ready wins the race, and this is what the main column do

    • Cavalry Raiders
      • Stats: Attack: 5 + 2 = 7, Defence 2 - 2 > 0
      • Story: Once a slaveraiding nation, the Khanate has stopped to preserve the peace, at the demands of others
  • Other: Their culture is (obviously) very matriarchal, where a woman is head of the household and a man stays home, but a man can fight if need be. My (present) Duchess will have a man for a chancellor for example, and one as a priest of the Sky Goddess.

Basically done, any comments?

[up][up]It's cobbled together from a few various nations which have had a matriarchal culture, such as some of the Tuareg peoples, some of the Filipino nations and some of the Turkic hordes who had a female form of a Khan rather than a male one.

[up]Thank you! I'll get a map soon.

[up][up]: I don't really see why some of your unique units' stats were lowered, especially since we all have four points to allot into each one based on the original post.

Also would like to add that Talabec place seems to be a fictional location, as there didn't seem to be info on it on wikipedia (it's also the reason I didn't darken whatever province it would have been in). I just sorta went historical in sign-up because the history seemed convenient.

Also have updated map to reflect positions of capitals.

Still waiting on an elaboration/listing of how different mechanics work, beside basic combat and stuff, though I would like to see that consolidated in a single post (such as the initial post of the discussion thread).

[up][up] I'll get around to adding that. But for now, on the map, I would like you to remove the bottom province in my nation for two smaller ones in the north east. Just to have more coastline, since its big in my culture.

Unless that's where Luxembourg is supposed to be.

@Skiller 2: The bottom-most province is where Luxembourg is. Or at least, that is the province of Luxembourg.

Might I have the coastline from Naples to the Toe of Italy?

Cathari, how exactly are you making the maps? I might be able to do it for you.

@Skiller 2: I'm using Gimp to make the maps, though I am opposed to Vampire's request for the reasons explained below.

@Vampireandthen: Even though I'm not GM for this game, I'd rather not have any player have significantly more provinces than the other. Even though that territory would incorporate what might have been de jure boundaries for Sicily, you would have a much larger starting province count than the others. The only reason I left Transdanubia's province count at 9 was because those were the territories roughly delineated by RatherRandomRachel's original (though incomplete) signup. The Benelux region is also much larger that the territories delineated on the map, though it is the area delineated in order to balance the province count. One of the previous maps may have had your territory stretch to the toe, but I specifically removed some of those provinces to maintain a roughly equal province count between each player, especially since Osnaria and Tunis's domains are much smaller than before.

Unfortunately, I can't download that on my I Pad. Thanks for doing all of this, though.

Oh, and Vampire, your could perhaps trade Malta for another province.

Is this still a thing? I'd really like to see this take off

I don't think it is.

However, I do have an idea in the works for a similar type of paradox/total war grand strategy rp, loosely inspired by this. I was sorta planning on making it an original, medieval-renaissance fantasy setting, though if there's greater demand for a more historical setting, then I could easily retool things to fit that setting, as I haven't really worked out all the mechanics yet.

It hasn't really been a high priority for me though, since I'm also running something else, so I don't really have a good time frame for when I would be able to set something like this up.

Yeah, it doesn't seem to be a thing.

[up]If you're going to do that, I'd prefer an original setting.

Yeah, I think this is cancelled. I don't feel that I'm as skilled as I need to be to run this sort of thing. I asked if anyone else wants to run it, but I haven't got a response.
