I think a much more appropriate name for this trope is "Upset win". The trope is about when a person presumed to win loses, the term "upset" is much more common in that context, when there are two viable candidates/teams/etc, and the one heavily favored to win loses. Differs from Dark Horse Victory, when the winner is someone completely out of left field.

There's also several examples that represent something else entirely and probably deserve their own trope, when a person mistakenly accepts a win before it is made official or when the contest is miscalled, e.g. the 2015 Miss Universe Pageant. "Assumed win" wouldn't make sense since it wasn't an assumption in some cases.
