Injustice 2 and DBF sold great. You'd think a Marvel fighter would do gangbusters but Marvel really provided no help in advertising for Infinite.
35 year old white man.I think what’s really going to determine who’s at fault here is how PS 4 Spider-Man and Square Enix Avengers do. Do those just get tossed at the developers with no help and no budget or do they get the money and promotion Infinite lacked?
Well, besides the whole “No X-Men thing” which literally could have been avoided by waiting 6-12 months.

In retrospect they should've launched this game around when Infinity War was coming out.
35 year old white man. After playing Fighter Z, that games feels like what this game SHOULD have been, except with a larger roster.
I feel like Marvel at this point only cares about the movies given how successful they are. And part of this game's problems is that it feels like they are trying to copy the MCU. The exact same problem I have with Avengers Assemble.
You know, I have to wonder why Pit is obsessed with this site. It’s gonna ruin his life!Yeah, and I bet you dollars to doughnuts if this came out this in 2019 mutants would be in the roster.
Mileena MadnessI disagree with Fighterz being what Marvel should of been, whatever that means.
Infinite's gameplay is just fine. It just needed a much better presentation and more characters and I think it would of been very well received, or at least better than it has now. There are things a lot of Capcom Marvel fans dislike about Fighterz because it's an Arc Sys game no matter how much it wants to pretend it's not, which is fine, since if every fighting game was the same the genre wouldn't be as great as it is.
Fighterz also had the perfect storm of things happening to make it successful - Dragon Ball Super's currently airing, Dragon Ball was incredibly popular world wide even before that, no one has any pre-conceived notions of what a "serious" Dragon Ball fighter should play like since none have ever been popular prior to it, Marvel had a poor showing pretty much everywhere and Fighterz had an immensely strong one out of the gate, and so on. I don't want to take away from its success, but it was as much luck as it was its own merits that the game is such a hit.
I'm talking in the gameplay sense that Fighter Z is what Infinite should have been.
Namely in that it's the 3 vs 3 style and that it's fun.
Basically, Marvel 2 and 3 with a story mode and more new characters.

It's everything else that was the problem.
I do agree somewhat that Marvel Infinite is fun, I just don't think it's fun enough to play a lot. I think it's just mediocre.
Compared to Marvel 3, which I love to play a lot of.
Infinite was just sandwiched between two much better fighting games (Injustice 2 and Fighter Z)

DBZ Fighters plays more like P4 Arena then the VS series. You might as well compare Tatsunko Vs Capcom to Guilty Gear while you're at it.
The big problem of this game is that it feels like things went like this:
"Gameplay is ready"
"Perfect, prepare to sell"
"But Sir, the graphics need polishing, the story is just half writen and a few characters aren't..."
"Who cares, MONEY"
And their horrible PR handling was just another nail in the coffin.
Wake me up at your own risk.I can't speak on the gameplay as I haven't played it, I'm sure it's as good as people say, but everything surrounding this game pushed me away.
Okay, so in spite of Infinite's sales being bleh, Capcom still manages to see a huge 300% increase in their income...
...Thank God for RE7, Ultra Street Fighter II and Monster Hunter World, I guess?
I'm pretty sure they're gonna have SFV as their only fighting game at this point. All their other FG properties are likely gonna be dropped or potentially outsourced. At least their main franchises are doing well.
A corpse should be left well enough alone...So much for Darkstalkers.
Mileena Madness
There are no 2ndary Capcom fighters to begin with.
There were, at one point in time. Not anymore.
A corpse should be left well enough alone...Capcom has been focusing on SF and RE almost exclusively this decade.
Though I am looking forward to Mega Man 11.
You know, I have to wonder why Pit is obsessed with this site. It’s gonna ruin his life!
That was only UMVC 3, feel free correct to me on that.
No Monster Hunter has been a very strong focus for quite some time.
MVC 3 was outsourced to Dimps, right?
And for some curious about the gameplay of MVCI, it is incredibly fun and the freeform tag system gives a lot of creativity in combos. Dedicated users can take advantage of the depth in gameplay.
Less serious players would probably just do the autocombos, go through the story and arcade, never go online and on tournaments, and then drop the game. Sure it's a valid way to play, but with the singleplayer modes being so dry, this won't keep most people from being hooked for too long.
My DA account... I draw stuff sometimes! The funny thing is, after all the hype dies down for Fighterz, the same thing's going to happen there, like it does with every fighter that isn't Smash or that doesn't get constant story updates. Fighterz is just enjoying its honey moon phase right now.
Hell, even Smash doesn't really have any talk here about the gameplay as much as it does what characters fans want in the next iteration.

Well I expect plot/character talk from TV Tropes forums anyway, considering the nature of this website. There's other more focused places to go for gameplay.
I'm gonna be a bit cautious. If DBFZ is still huge after 3 months, then I will seriously hop on the gameplay train. I'm currently just having fun with my anime fighter tourney buddies, but Guilty Gear is still where it's at for me. <3

There's no real reason to believe Figtherz is going to do any worse than Guilty Gear or Blazblue. Either way we still should wait & see how well it does at tournies. I mean KOF 14 is becoming relevant because of DLC.
I do recommend the game. It's not the MVC killer the community desperately wants it to be, but atmosphere is great.
KOF's not relevant to anyone who isn't a huge fighting game player. DLC doesn't seem to do much for games people aren't already invested in to begin with.

Again this game is dead in the water, but I am not sure a Marvel fighter will work out much better.
