Marvel vs. Capcom Infinite

Fits the rumors that the game is done.

Capcom is putting their marketing into SF 5 Arcade I'm guessing.

Which you'd think Marvel and Capcom would've known given how badly Street Fighter III performed. People have short memories, I guess.

Again, the real reason isn't that MVC is "moving on from the past", it was the whole "X-Men film is owned by Fox so Marvel ain't gonna advertise them" fiasco.

Except they can use the X-Men any time they want even before Fox got bought.

Marvel vs Capcom Infinite has Shipped 1 Million Units in 2017

... Yeah, I think the writing is on the wall now. It's over. I'm not sure if we're even gonna get Season 2 DLC at this point.

It's Capcom's fault they squandered this game's potential. What did they think was going to happen when they gave it no budget, an ugly artstyle, a boring soundtrack, awful PR, and like five new characters?

Sure it has X and Jedah. That's about all it has going for it.

To be fair, SF 5 only recently has sold 1 million...

ARMS had a simillar sell, but of course despite both being fighting games, MVCI was expected to make much more. That being said, its not a flop, technically, but in the eyes of a shareholder...hmmm

EDIT: Oh, 1 mil across all systems vs an exclusive...ouch.

Its not all that different from Street Fighter V, really. If they continued to support it, it could probably perform similarly. I think I'm going to stop beating this dead horse, though.

Problem is, it requires way more money, time and effort than SFV, they have to work with Marvel (Which if rumors are true, is going badly) and it's stacked ontop of all the bad reputation from SFV and this. Hell, take one look at the Steam online numbers and Twitch viewers, and you can see that people have abandoned the game on a level far beyond SFV. I think it's over. Hell, it's done so badly, I honestly don't even think we'll even get the Season 2 character DLC as a parting gift.

Apathy is the biggest indication of a game's overall failure.

The fact that Youtube and Twitch views are so low for a franchise where visibility and community interest are imperative to its success is pretty much all you need to know that the game is through. It didn't get the casual audiences it needed, and Dragon Ball's here to make sure it doesn't.

Too bad, it was a great game while it lasted... and I am getting good at Chris too.

Since AE's release, I had moved back to SF playing Ed.

I go to a local weekly, where MVCI tournament participation is going extinct.

(OT) Meanwhile our Guilty Gear tournaments are getting bigger. (We took a break for DBFZ, tho.) And SFV's tournament participation exceeded Tekken for the first time thanks to AE. Considering Tekken is basically our National Fighting Game, that's quite a feat.

I really don't want to think negative about this news because I don't want this to be the last of MVC, but again this was all due to the decisions made by Capcom and Marvel over this game.

Pretty much. Then Fighter Z shows up with its hype train and makes Infinite look even worse.

Even with half the roster size, too.

Well, MVCI has more characters than DBZF however a lot of them are just from previous games. >_>

Hell, Infinite has an even worse roster than Mv C 2/3. Not to mention very few newcomers in the base game that aren't DLC. On top of every other thing wrong with the game, and it's easy to see why it's so dead in the water. Personally I've grown apathetic about it. I still play Mv C 2/3 on the rare occasion and the other vs games on Fightcade so Infinite being a failure doesn't bother me too much.

So the haters finally get they want huh? So be it.
