Ah yes. Silly me.
CAPCOM VERSUS [[SPOILER:CAPCOM!]

- Chris Redfield
- Chun-Li
- Dante
- Asura
Now, granted, I don't really understand fighting game mechanics, so I have no idea what playstyles of these people would have. That in no way affects my judgement of why they deserve a spot on this list.

I'M MR. MEESEEKS, LOOK AT ME!Honestly I'm beginning to think that fighting games are becoming inferior forms of crossovers in the first place. They don't offer much opportunity for character interaction and when they do, the story often devolves into Let's You and Him Fight. I think more companies should strive for RPG crossovers instead.

This song needs more love.Man, YMMV, but I think Capcom's been doing a mostly good job of getting back on the rebound. And I only say "mostly" because the only place they're still lacking in is the Marvel side.
And that's when it hit me.
Now that the Fox Ban is becoming a thing of the past, what if Capcom took a page from their earlier Mega Man livestream and do a Marvel vs. Capcom livestream and not only announce obvious fixes to Infinite, but also do something similar to the recently announced Street Fighter 30th Anniversary compilation and announce a new Marvel vs. Capcom-themed collection including:
- X-Men: Children of the Atom
- Marvel Super Heroes
- X-Men vs. Street Fighter
- Marvel Super Heroes vs. Street Fighter
- Marvel vs. Capcom: Clash of Super Heroes
- Marvel vs. Capcom: New Age of Heroes
Don't act like you don't want to see that happening now that Disney bought Fox, you guys.

This game really came out at the wrong time didn'tit? Probably should've came out May next year. Then again who would've guessed Disney buying Fox. Besides the Simpsons :p

35 year old white man.You forgot Marvel Super Heroes, but yeah, a Marvel vs. Capcom compilation with all the games included would be nice.
This is not the greatest signature in the world, no... this is just a tribute.I KNEW there was a Capcom game called Marvel Super Heroes!
Curse you Wikipedia for making me doubt my memory.
Fixed it. Thanks.
S'all good, man.
@5671 - Wasn't there a leak that said that Street Fighter V would get some free DLC characters that were considered separate from the "Season X" DLC? You think Infinite should do something like that for returning characters?
This is not the greatest signature in the world, no... this is just a tribute.Probably a good idea as it might get people's faith back if these dlc people were there for free like that.
Also this good news means mutant doom pack will be a thing. Yes.
"That's right mortal. By channeling my divine rage into power, I have forged a new instrument in which to destroy you."Imagine if this came out in 2018 what a difference it would make..
Mileena MadnessWasn't an issue with this game being it was rushed?
Or was it solely the budget issues?
"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."It seemed to be both, but mostly the budget thing. On top of poor decisions from the higher-ups (such as making Sigma, Panther, and Monster Hunter, who were said to have been finished by the time the game came out, DLC instead of allowing them to be put into the base roster) if rumors are to be believed.
Also, this Fox thing is adding to the "game should've been release later with all the current DLC as part of the base game" fire. While there's not really anything stopping them from bringing the X-Men and other characters into Infinite (and really, I'd say nothing was stopping them before, other than pettiness), I think the poor reputation the game has right now will keep them from making more work for themselves. Maybe if the game manages to get to a Season 3...
I lowkey hope that they cut their losses, take the Capcom half of the roster, add a few new ones, and just make Capcom Fighting All Stars.
That's a double-edged sword though. If Infinite ultimately fails, it'll either convince Capcom to try harder with the next game, or to give up on the VS series for a while. And again, the last time they made an all Capcom crossover fighter, it flopped so hard that they didn't make another fighting game until Street Fighter IV, which was considered risky for them to do at the time.
I mean, I'd think an all Capcom fighter would have to begin as a Street Fighter vs title, since that's their premier franchise aside from Monster Hunter in Japan right now. Plus, I've heard that the VS series in general is considered niche in Japan (which was why Tatsunoko vs Capcom was made). So without the novelty of something big like Marvel or SNK to draw in more than the Capcom diehards, and on top of fighting games being niche, why would they bother making a title that's all Capcom if people would feel better if they made continuations of the franchises that would be represented in the game?
Yeah, the more I think about it, the more likely I feel that a Capcom only fighter would just be Capcom Fighting Evolution 2, unless they feel confident that they can finally make the cancelled Capcom All-Stars game they wanted; the one that was reworked into Evolution in the first place. And I personally think a company-only crossover title would work better if they just centered it around all the fighting games they've made over the years (such as Darkstalkers, Red Earth, Star Gladiator, and Rival Schools) and work from there, probably throwing a couple of non-fighting game guests into the mix as well (like a Mega Man character, Asura, Phoenix Wright, the Monster Hunter, Amaterasu... you name it).
The reason Capcom Fighting Evolution flopped was that 1) it's pretty much unfinished, 2) they did something that no sane fighting game devs would do: copy-paste the fighting mechanics of the characters of different games into the one same game, and even their sprites. Basically MUGEN.
Now, all-Capcom fighting game with MVC style gameplay and streamlined graphics, I can totally get behind that.
Right, assuming they just go with the characters you specifically want though.

The big thing is if EVO abandons Infinite. If they do, then it’s dead. No more DLC. Because there’s literally no point in DLC for a dead game.

...was there not a time when fighting games had their own lifespan that didn't depend on esports?
I'M MR. MEESEEKS, LOOK AT ME!Yeah, its called just supportin it.
U think MVC 2 & Melee would be proof of that.
Most of the Infinite decisions seem to have been made to placate EVO, at least as far as mechanics.
That's really depressing. :/
I'M MR. MEESEEKS, LOOK AT ME!Yeah infinite was made for EVO to the point it hurt its sale with casuals and hence its profits as they didnt give much to that custmer base and hence if it fails at Evo then the game will be dead.

"That's right mortal. By channeling my divine rage into power, I have forged a new instrument in which to destroy you."There is so much irony in this.
Also why would they follow the business model of solely pandering to the smallest buyer group?
"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."It's a matter of pandering to either the smaller group who will play the game for a longer time or to the larger group who will stop playing it in the intervals between DLC.
What they apparently failed to realize is that the tournament crowd will play the game regardless so why bother pandering to them?
This song needs more love.
That game should feature Dante from the Devil May Cry series.
You know, I have to wonder why Pit is obsessed with this site. It’s gonna ruin his life!
