Though I'm familiar with Mario Party, all I see is Luigi getting himself into a rough situation. Doesn't really illustrate it enough.

I find it's showing something that isn't the trope. There's nothing about respect, and nothing about him deserving it. It shows him being a Butt-Monkey, at best.
